Reason For The Season Dazzling Watercolor Poinsettia Cards
I love the traditional colors and pretty, sparkly watercolor look of the poinsettias on these Reason To Season cards! We'll be creating 6 each of this design for my final Countdown To Christmas class! Let's take a closer look at the details.

Background Basics—The foundation for this card begins with a 4-1/4" x 1" strip of Cherry Cobbler Glimmer Paper adhered to a Cherry Cobbler card base. That little bit of sparkle will pick up the poinsettia glittery accents! The Whisper White stamped layer measures 3-1/4" x 4-1/2" and that is eventually matted on a 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of Garden Green card stock.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Reason For The Season greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink first, so that I could position the flowers around it.
Watercolor Poinsettias—To achieve the watercolor look, I first stamped the poinsettia outline image three times in Smoky Slate to give me a starting point for coloring. Next, I stamped the flower filler stamp in Cherry Cobbler ink, and the leaves filler stamp in Garden Green ink, over the top of the outline image. Finally, I used a Blender Pen to color in the petals with Real Red ink and the leaves with Old Olive ink.
Blender Pen Painting TIP: Squeeze the ink pad before opening to transfer the ink onto the lid, then use that as a palette to "paint" on the ink with the Blender Pen.
Sparkly & Shiny Accents—I highlighted the flowers by painting on some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details glitter glue. The Dazzling Details is pretty thick and takes awhile to dry on it's own, so I watered it down a little for easier application. Simply squirt a little in an old embellishment container or onto something non-porous like a styrofoam plate. Add a few drops of water and mix it up to thin the glitter.
I painted the Details on with an Aqua Painter, but you could use a paint brush or even a cotton swap to add the sparkle. I only added it to the darker Cherry Cobbler stamped areas just to highlight the petals.
TIP: Wash out your Aqua Painter or brush right away after you're done, so the Dazzling Details doesn't get dried and caked on it.
Gold Accents—I finished the flowers by adding a single Gold Sequin to the centers with a Glue Dot.
Two Cool—This card design looks great with any greeting and in either direction.
Three Cool—I moved the greeting to the bottom on this one and added more flowers. It takes a little longer to color that many flowers, but it's oh, so pretty!
