The NewsON app offers video from more than 100 local TV stations.

The NewsON app is taking local news national.

Powered by media companies that cover three-fourths of the U.S., NewsON offers video news from 118 stations in 90 markets.

The free ad-supported app, available today for Apple and Android devices and Roku Net TV devices, includes content from NewsOn ownership group companies — ABC Owned Television Station Group, Cox Media Group, Hearst Television, Media General and Raycom Media — as well as Hubbard Broadcasting Graham Media Group and TEGNA. (TEGNA is the former parent of Gannett, which publishes USA TODAY and 92 other newspapers and their online properties. Gannett and TEGNA share some service agreements, but TEGNA spun off in June to focus on broadcasting and digital businesses.)

Video clips and broadcasts can be found using an interactive map or searching by network affiliation (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC) and by state or call letters. Currently available for viewing are recent news broadcasts from the current and previous day. You can use a timeline to scroll through the broadcast for certain segments.

News can also be found in categories such as "Politics," "Uplifting," "Healthy Living" and "Seriously?"

NewsON's channel selection is expected to grow in the future. “NewsON offers the most comprehensive collection of local news video available today for mobile and connected TV viewers, and we expect the number of participating stations to grow between now and the end of the year," said NewsON CEO Louis Gump. "The vast collection of news content, coupled with a powerful interface, gives NewsON the potential to be an iconic app that quickly becomes a consumer favorite.”
