Opening eyes to agriculture

John Buck_Turnkey Leadership_webAgriculture will be the focus of the next gathering of Leadership Ohio participants.

The group, which, includes public and private leaders from across the state, will be in Marion County, north of Columbus, October 16th and 17th for their “Ag Weekend”.  Event coordinator John Buck, with Turnkey Leadership and Marion County farmer, says it’s a great opportunity to help open their eyes to agriculture.

“Well the one thing that has happened over and over is they leave and say I didn’t realize agriculture affected my daily life as much as it does,” Buck said. “We’ll have different one talking about when they are sitting at breakfast and they are telling their kids they saw the cows on the carousel and where the milk is coming from for the cereal, to Wyandot Snack Foods and the snacks they’re eating, to when they see a tractor or combine, it sparks the next story.”

Buck, a past participant of Leadership Ohio says at the end of the weekend, agriculture has more people telling their story.

“My goal is to make them a story carrier for us to help spread our message,” said Buck. “I’m only one person, but I also now have 46 more people that have learned something within the agriculture industry and how it affects them in the daily life and in their jobs.”

The Leadership Ohio ag weekend will be held October 16 and 17.
