The Alamogordo Daily News appreciates your input to the Community Calendar. To make sure items can receive proper attention, all information should be received by the newspaper at least five business days prior to the event. All coming events print on a space available basis and in chronological order. Alamogordo Senior Center Dance with Selmo: This event will take place form 6-9 p.m. in the Dining Room. Admission is $4 and the event is open to the public.

Hospital Auxiliary Harvest Fair: This will take place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.There will be crafts, homemade baked goods gently used jewlery cookbooks and white elephants. There will also be a drawing for a kindle, iPad and Walmart gift card. The funds raised through this event will support the Auxiliary’s Scholarship Fund.

Saturday, Oct. 10

The American Armed Forces Museum, Inc: This museum is a non-profit organization staffed by volunteers. This free museum is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is located at 144 U.S. Highway 82. Volunteers are needed. Alamogordo Senior Center Field Trip: This trip will travel to the Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium. The Symposion cost is $15, suggested transportation donation is $5. Bring your own lunch. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., please register at the front desk.

Game Day: At the Tularosa Public Library at 12:30 p.m. there will be a variety of board games for children, hosted by Chuck Lewis.

Otero County Tea Party: The regular 2nd Saturday meeting of The Otero County Tea Party will be held on Saturday, October 10th at 12 noon at The Empire Buffet, 1010 S. Alzheimer’s Presentation: “The Basics of Alzheimer’s Disease” will be the subject of a free class offered by The Alzheimer’s Association, New Mexico Chapter on October 16 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Mescalero Elderly Program, 215 War Bonnet Dr., Mescalero. This presentation will help participants understand and recognize the basic pathology, early warning signs, risk factors and scope of the disease.
