Survey: Ag equipment sales down

Ag equipment dealers say that sales for August were down an average of 15% from last August.  A survey of 104 North American farm equipment dealers, reported in Farm Equipment magazine, indicates dealers anticipate falling sales across the board.  The survey indicates dealers – 35 percent of them – say sales will be down for the year, but that’s improved from a month ago when 46 percent of the dealers predicted a drop in sales for the year.  The most positive outlook is among Kubota dealers, who say their sales will drop only one percent.

Dealers say there’s too much used equipment in the pipeline.  Forty-two percent say their used inventory is too high.  That’s up from 32 percent who indicated that a month ago.
