A third of Minnesota’s soybean acreage harvested last week

Beneficial weather allowed for a third of Minnesota’s soybean acreage to be harvested last week.

The latest Crop Progress Report from USDA says 35 percent of the state soybean acreage was cut the past seven days, bringing overall harvest to 69 percent complete.

The report states there were more than six days suitable for field work, which also allowed the advancement of sugar beet harvest to 52 percent.

Corn harvest in Minnesota is nine percent done as of Sunday, 10 days ahead of last year but eight days behind normal.

Dry edible bean harvest is nearly over, 81 percent of the potato crop has been harvested and a quarter of the state’s sunflower acreage has been harvested.

The report also notes areas of frost last week in east central Minnesota.
