A/W Beauty Haul with Silverburn

I've lived in Glasgow my whole life and yet I know very little about my city; I stick to the same tried and tested shopping destinations, purely out of habit. I can't even blame convenience as Glasgow is well serviced by public transport so any shopping centre or town is fairly easy to locate. Despite opening in 2007, I had never taken the journey over to the south side of the city to visit Silverburn Shopping Centre. This huge metropolis of shops and eateries is located just 15 minutes outside the city centre and is home to many well known and loved shops, as well as few lesser known spots - for instance it is one of the few places in Glasgow you will find Five Guys restaurant.

As much as I enjoy a good burger or two, my purpose for finally frequenting the huge and beautifully designed shopping destination that is Silverburn, (outside along with pretty blooms there is a river that really adds to the tranquil experience) was to pick up a few new beauty products to spruce up my make-up bag. There are a few current beauty trends I have been itching to try out so what better excuse to visit Silverburn.

 Like most I am glued to my smartphone, if there is an app to make my life easier or perhaps feature discounts, you can bet I will have downloaded it. Luckily Silverburn has its own app - Silverburn PLUS App. A nifty, know it all app that allows you to quickly search to see what stores are under one roof and exactly where they are located - great if you are a new visitor to the location or a little like myself, easily lost. Rather unsurprisingly black eye liner in all forms is set to be a must try trend for the upcoming Autumn season. How you wear it, is entirely up to you - thick, smoky, smudged, winged, double winged or graphic - the world is your oyster with a classic black eye liner. Personally I deem gel liner to be the most diverse of all the formulations and surprisingly the easiest to use. It also doesn't hurt that in my experience gel liner has more of a tendency to stay in place, even on the oiliest of skin types and humid temperatures. My personal recommendation is Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Noir Black, not only is this a beautifully pigmented product, long wearing not to mention easy to locate but it contains an excellent dual ended brush. If you want a rocky, slept in, smudged look the soft end of the applicator provides this with ease, yet the traditional brush at the other end allows for sharp, precise lines of any thickness. A great, classic beauty staple that can be found in any Boots store.

For a more fun and less traditional approach to eye liner and dare I say it mascara, take inspiration from the A/W catwalks and try a bright pop of colour. Bright, graphic flashes of blue, green and purple liner and even mascara is everywhere I look at the moment: ad campaigns, models and of course on counter. The good news is that it is a very easy trend to embrace thanks to the abundance of products available via Clinique, Clarins, Benefit and of course more budget friendly brands such as Revlon, Maybelline et al. I wanted to try something truly striking so I purchased Benefit They're Real Mascara in Beyond Blue - perfect for complimenting blue or green eye colours and Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner in Beyond Green - great for all eye colours. Individually both offer a subtle splash of colour all the while enhancing the natural features, teamed together it is far more striking, avant garde yet utterly wearable. This is one upcoming trend that may seem daunting but in reality is entirely flattering. Give it a whirl you may be surprised.

If bright eye make up is not your thing then why not embrace the Autumn/Winter trend of bronze come copper eye make up? The warm hues of copper eye make up will make all eye colours pop, and are universally flattering - ideal for all situations - even in the office. Now I know that Urban Decay Naked Palettes are the obvious choice but as a huge fan of multi tasking products, I can not recommend Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Defining Eyeshadow in 11 Decadent Copper enough. This sparkling shade can be applied wet or dry, as a powder eyeshadow, a facial highlighter or as a liquid liner. It is the perfect product to tap into the copper eye make up trend and who doesn't love a product that can be used all over the face? For those on a budget the L'Oreal Color Riche Les Ombres offer a great alternative, as do the new Rimmel London 5 Pan Eyeshadow palettes. I fully recommend the Rimmel Brixton Brown colour way for those looking for warm, copper based eyeshadows.

As well as bronze eyes, warm sun kissed skin looks set to be very much en Vouge in the coming months. I personally think you can't go wrong with a matte bronzer, it can be used to add a bronze glow, to contour and double up as eyeshadow. My go-to bronzer is Bourjois Maxi Delight Bronzer, a huge bronzing palette that can be used all over the face and body. It can be found in Boots nationwide. I find that this bronzer pairs really well with MAC Teddy Khol to create a really easy and natural take on the aforementioned bronze-come-copper eye look.

My love for MAC is very much known and let me tell you that the MAC counter at Silverburn does not disappoint. Great friendly staff and a vast array of stock - it is make up heaven. You don't need me to tell you that red lipstick never goes out of fashion, classic, chic and fail safe. Everyone needs a good red lipstick that they can count on. For the upcoming season a more glossy red lip is predicted, rather than a flat matte lip - equally as classic but a glossy finish is a little kinder on the lips thanks to additional moisture. No one does lipstick quite like MAC Cosmetics, red or otherwise. A great glossy red that I imagine will suit just about every complexion is MAC New York Apple Lipstick, a deep yet sheer glossy red that is extremely easy to wear hue that checks off two make up trends. If you purchase one lipstick this Autumn, let it be this.

I don't know about you but I find shopping to be hard and thirsty work, a pit stop at one of the restaurants before heading back home was very much needed.
