Allen Park — Luis Perez, senior vice president of Business Development and Strategy, is no longer employed by the team.

An attempt to reach Perez on his office number led to an assistant saying he was no longer with the team. Lions spokesman Bill Keenist told The Detroit News team president Tom Lewand accepted Perez's resignation last week.

Perez did not immediately return an email sent to his company address or a voice message left at home.

One of the team's senior vice presidents, the Lions hired Perez in 2011 after he'd spent the previous seven years at Modell Ventures. He also had more than a decade of experience in professional sports, working for teams like the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Ravens.

The Lions' website says Perez reported directly to Lewand.
