IS MY DOG A PRINCE?

Allow me to test your childhood memory. How many remember this fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson?

The story is about a young woman whose royal identity was questioned by a prince and later established by a test of her physical sensitivity.

As the prince searched for a bride, a stranger appeared at the castle seeking shelter from a terrible storm. Claiming to be a princess, the uncertain mother of the prince placed a pea in the bed covered by 20 mattresses and 20 feather-beds.

In the morning she tells her hosts that she endured a sleepless night, kept awake by something hard in the bed. The prince rejoiced knowing he had finally found his bride.

As Jax climbed up this stack of beds – I couldn’t help but wonder – Is my dog a prince?

He looks super comfy! I’m sure he wished you could take home the whole stack!

There are so many beds lying around this house, I could probably create my own stack for him. But Harley would throw a fit!

So cute. It doesn’t look like a pea or a concrete block could bother him, What a sweet little doodle-face.

When the clock strikes 9:00pm, nothing bothers him. He could fall asleep on a window ledge!

Love it! One one hand, that’s my favourite fairy tale of all times, not as well known as others so I appreciate so much that you highlight it on your post.
As for the question… Yes. You really don’t need to ask! LOL!
Thank you Cathy, have a wonderful rest of the week!
    Loving paws to all!

I agree with you Alessandra – one of the few fairy tales that seems to miss the top ten list of fables to highlight, but certainly a favorite of millions. Hugs to Pedro.

I have a nine year old so I’m all too familiar with that story. And I LOVE LOVE this picture. Not sure if it makes him a prince, but sure makes him adorable

I can remember reading this story to my daughter over and over again – it never looses its power to mesmerize both children and adults….

Yes, we believe he is! And of course, that means Harley is King! 🙂

PS…I didn’t notice the photo was taken in a store at first, and I was going to say that your dogs were quite spoiled with two piles of dog beds (not that we don’t have a lot of beds in our house….)…LOL!

Jax is definitely a prince. There is no bed test necessary to prove that. 🙂 He is a handsome knight in furry armor.

Hehe. Cute! I’m pretty sure Rita is not a princess. She can sleep on top of all manner of uncomfortable things! (It’s hard to be less wordy, eh?) 🙂

If you ask me – Rita sounds like she truly epitomizes the term “princess” – only a princess could sleep on anything LOL Girl, trying to be less wordy is so hard, it’s killing me!
