Today is the deadline to submit comments on EPA’s proposed cuts to the Renewable Fuels Standard.

Megan Kuhn with Indiana Corn says over the weekend the Indiana Corn Growers Association was at the Brickyard 400 helping farmers and users of ethanol submit comments in support of the RFS.  “What’s a better time to get folks who are seeing how well E-15 is running in NASCAR races to send a comment to EPA,” she says.  “We had a biofuels unit at the Midway at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway encouraging everyone to come out and get those comments in.”

She tells Brownfield EPA’s proposed cuts hurt the ethanol industry, corn farmers, and rural America.  “We’re looking at more than 1 billion bushels of corn not being pushed into the corn ethanol market,” she says.  “That’s a lot.  That’s all of Indiana’s corn production from 2014.”

Kuhn says it’s important to get those comments in to support the RFS.  “Those comments will tell EPA – don’t mess with the RFS,” she says.  “And leave those numbers the same.”

The deadline to submit comments is today.
