Colbert Drops Bombshell on 'Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee'

Culture

On Thursday's episode of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee", Jerry Seinfeld welcomed soon-to-be Late Night host Stephen Colbert to discuss his future in network late night and why he had gotten Colbert Report fatigue. Seinfeld began the drive with a high compliment, "What you did with that character... you are one of the greatest television performers I've ever seen. You never seemed to get tired."

But, towards the end, it seems this was an act Cobert confided to Seinfeld (and all watching) that he had actually grown tired of The Colbert Report and planned on leaving regardless of whether he got Letterman's old gig. "I was ready to stop... the Letterman thing fell into my lap."

It's an amusing exchange and one full of interesting natural moments that show, once again, Colbert can make the most routine chit-chat hilarious.
