• Drink: Dry or liquored up is something you should decide. If there will be kids, then no alcohol could be wise. In either event, you have to remember those who don’t want spirits.
• Activities: What kind of games or other things are you going to have for folks to do?
• Guests: Your picnic is only as good as your least happy guest.

Spring clean your washing machine with a few of these cleaning tips.

It really is not difficult at all to clean a washing machine, and all you need to tackle your cleaning project is some baking soda, white vinegar, a microfiber cloth and a toothbrush.

To begin, set the washer on the hottest setting, and for the longest time to wash, then place a quart of white vinegar in along with a cup of baking soda. Let the washer run for no more than sixty seconds then let the water mixture sit for an hour.

Next remove and scrub the fabric softener wells. Afterward, clean the agitator with your toothbrush. When the hour is up, let the washer complete the washing cycle, then repeat so all the residue is removed.

Immerse yourself in tons of local art at the Workhouse during 2nd Saturday Art Walk.

One of the striking features of our Woodside Apartments is the great residents who do everything that they can for others. Not only do we love those less fortunate, we also are able to really respect and appreciate art and artists, even artists that we don’t necessarily understand.

So for anyone who knows our residents, it should not surprise to them that so many of us head out to the 2nd Saturday Art Walk at the Workhouse Art Center!

The 2nd Saturday Art Walk showcases many different types and styles of artwork from more than 100 different artists. One of the unique things about this event is its location. The Workhouse is an amazing place and a truly historic venue that used to be a prison workhouse — as the name states.

The way that 2nd Saturday Art Walk works is that there are seven studio buildings where this artwork and the creator will be out on display. Spectators can view the artwork and interact with these artists. You can come out to attend this great event, appreciate the artwork and even go out with your family to share and learn and explore!

Lend a hand at one of these animal shelters in need in Lorton.

Every time you have the opportunity to share a special moment or play around with your pet at your pet-friendly Woodside Apartment, it is sad to think that there are hundreds of animals needing a home in Lorton.  Many of those animals are staying in area shelters and are cared for by volunteers who want to do something special to help care for them.

This can be your opportunity to give something back to the community by helping as a volunteer at animal shelters in the Lorton area this summer.  It is easy to do and it will make a tremendous impact in the lives of the animals that need volunteers at shelters.

Locations like the Prince William County Animal Shelter on 14807 Bristow Road in Manassas is a nearby animal shelter in need of help. There are plenty of volunteering possibilities for you to check out.

The Animal Welfare League of Arlington – on 2650 S. Arlington Mill Drive in Arlington — has an active volunteer program that helps to make the difference. You can sign up your child, if he or she is at least 10 years old, to be a junior volunteer. Also, check out Animal Welfare League of Alexandria for an array of volunteer opportunities.
