Green Adventures: Teach your kids that “green” is like an adventure. Take them out to the seaside this summer to find shells and pick up waste. Show them that being “green” is cool!

Green Films: If you show kids some movies that show the detriment that we are having on our world through waste, this can often be an even more effective way to inspire them than just speaking.

Garden: If you have a small garden in your own home, as a place to  grow herbs or small vegetables or flowers, this also shows your kids ways that you are taking an active role to lead the green charge.

Here are our three favorites for running about:

• Morrisville Community Park on Morrisville Parkway has plenty of amenities, and the Hatcher Creek Greenway there is a perfect six-tenths of a mile loop that you can enjoy.

• Shiloh Park and Luther Green Center doesn’t have a dedicated trail, but jogging all around the park is an excellent way to get fit in a friendly and fun atmosphere.

• Indian Creek Greenway and Trailhead offers up 1.8 miles of trail for your next running challenge. It is the largest greenway project in Morrisville.

Learn about the tradition of Bollywood at Baisakhi Mela this April.

Join Punjabi Unlimited and the Town of Cary as they put together this great cultural celebration, to be held at the Booth Amphitheatre on Regency Parkway. The day will be filled with live music, performances, dancing, singing, and all the colorful and fun-filled entertainment associated with Bollywood itself — an art form still alive and well in modern times.

Headline performers for the evening will be Darshana Menon, a winner of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2008, along with performances from Salem, Soujanya & Neel, plus many local artists. Of course, there will be plenty of vendors with jewelry, crafts, fashion, henna tattoos, and lots of delicious Indian food!

VIP Tickets are $50, with general admission tickets just $10. Lawn seating is free, though attendants should be sure to bring their own lawn chairs! Parking is just $5 per car. The festival begins at 11:30 a.m. and goes till 9:00 p.m.
