For my East Bay readers you’ll love this deal, for $12 you can get 30 ride tickets or an unlimited wrist band to the Contra Costa County Fair. Rides generally cost three to four tickets each. The Fair takes place from May 31st to June 3rd, admission to the fair is not included in this deal but there are several ways to get in for free. We went to this fair last year and had so much fun, it’s smaller but packed full with great exhibits and lots of hands on activities for the kids. We would highly suggest the pig races if they’re back this year, they were so cute to watch! Our family split, each half choosing a different pig. Turns out after both races we each won! Oh and the kids loved taking a walk through the livestock exhibit, I could go on and on. It’s really a very fun, family friendly fair.

99 Cents Store Shopping Trip Week of 5/22

There are no coupon inserts scheduled for newspapers this weekend due to the holiday. How do you save on groceries when you don’t have coupons? I rely on my stockpile, my frozen items, and shopping at the 99 Cents Only Store. Here’s what I found at my Clayton Rd store, all $1 each, no coupons necessary:

1.   Oscar Mayer Oven Roasted Turkey, 1 lb. (!!)
2.   Polly-O Ricotta Cheese, 2 lbs. (!!)
3.   Lunchables Combinations Meal + Capri Sun
4.   Coffeemate Hazelnut FF Creamer, 16 oz.
5.   Claussen Hot & Spicy Pickle Spears, chilled 24 oz.
6.   Breakstones FF Cottage Cheese, 4 pk.
7.   T&A Hydroponically Grown Butter Lettuce
8.   Nectarines, 2 lbs.
9.   Golden Dewlicious Honeydew Melon
10. Tazo Organic Teas, 2 bottles for $1
The Tazo was available in Peach, Green Tea, and Black Tea.

Julia shared the Safeway Catalina Deal for Oscar Mayer lunch meats, but I couldn’t find the cute little packs in my Safeway. So I was glad to find the one-pound Oscar Mayer for a $1 here. I will be freezing some of the turkey and ricotta cheese. We rarely see coupons for ricotta, so I picked up three 2 lb. tubs to use in lasagnes and pizzas. Something to know about shopping here — produce is not sold by weight. Produce is sold by the bag ($1/bag) or by the piece ($1/entire melon, for example). I buy all my whole melons here because it’s a great deal and they are consistently juicy & sweet. When the whole watermelons come in, that’s an especially good deal! Let us know if you spot the watermelons. I’m expecting them to appear any time now!
