Denver is historically known for the invention of the Cheeseburger. If you’re ever driving down Speer Blvd in the Highlands, you could pull over to see the marker commemorating this great achievement with the words, “this site was once occupied by Colorado’s first drive-in fast food joint, and it was here in 1935 that the cheeseburger was created”.

While Humpty Dumpty’s cheeseburgers are long gone, Denver is still a hotbed for exceptional burgers. We’ve rounded up a few mouthwatering crowd favorites from the Mile High City.

Cherry Cricket

Started in 1945, just a few years after the infamous Humpty Dumpty’s, they won the Denver Burger Battle in 2019 with the 303 Green Chile Relleno Burger! Cherry Cricket has two locations, one in downtown Denver Ballpark area and another in Cherry Creek.

Park Burger

For the traditional burger lover, this is your new go-to. Their standard Cheeseburger checks all the boxes with american cheese, russian dressing, housemade pickles and carmelized onions. Stanley Beer Hall hosts one of the best outdoor patios and a pour-your-own tap system in the restaurant!

Crave Real Burgers

If you’re looking for a truly nontraditional burger to jump off the plate, this is your spot! Crave Real Burgers has all the classic’s you’d expect, but also peanut-butter bacon burgers, breakfast burgers with eggs bacon and donuts, and a Slopper (smothered in Green Chili). The Jalapeno Popper burger is the crowned jewel, with bragging rights as the only burger to ever win BOTH People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice in the same year.

Highland Tap & Burger

Highland Tap & Burger is a Denver favorite in the Highlands neighborhood. They boast a huge variety of options for patties and sides. If you want to take it to the next level, get The Tap Burger. It’s a spin on a French Dip sandwich and comes with Au Jus.

Attending Festivals Safely in a Post-2020 World

After a long year of being stuck in the house and all-things-fun being constantly canceled, it is safe to say that we are all ready to get back to normal as summer approaches. Live music, festivals and events seem like a distant memory, but there is light on the horizon that our beloved entertainment will be back in 2021!

There will be several measures to encourage safety at the events. These will indeed fluctuate based on current county health guidelines, but may include:

Limited capacities
Outdoor venue
Hand sanitizer readily available
Masks may be required in some portions of the event
Temperature checks for guests, staff and representatives at the entrance
Appropriate spacing between tents, tables and lounges
Layout of the festivals that emphasize social distancing and minimal cross contamination

Steps you can take to ensure a safe festival experience as you venture out this summer

Look for events that have a COVID plan and information on how to participate safely.
Follow the guidelines they outline for participation. Festival producers are required to work within state and county health guidelines based on the dial at the time of the event.
Bring a mask and hand sanitizer. It’s the post-2020 world, it’s good to have in most scenarios.
Stay home if you’re feeling sick or may have been exposed.

Events may still look a little different this summer, but that does not mean that they will be any less exciting. Team Player Productions has transformed several of their food and beverage events into full on VIP experiences. Essentially the VIP hour you’d pay extra for to skip the lines and claim your space will be available to any ticket holder. These festivals will continue to have the same number of sampling booths, but with less capacity. For reference, most of these events will have one winery/brewery/restaurant to sample from for every 10 people at the event. That means no lines, and time to really interact at each booth. Outdoor celebrations like the Vail Craft Beer Classic and Breckenridge Wine Classic will feel quite similar to the event you may have participated before, but without lines at the sampling tents.

After a long year of being stuck at home, festivals are on the horizon for 2021! Last year, Team Player Production (TPP) was able to successfully put on a safe, socially distanced event for more than 1500 attendees, under the harshest COVID restrictions. This summer, TPP is back with a full lineup of festivals.

Vail Craft Beer Classic

Vail Craft Beer Classic is reimagined and back for the fifth year! This year’s event provides an intimate all-inclusive sampling event with no crowds, no lines, but an abundance of premium beers in a one-of-a-kind, scenic mountain setting in the heart of Vail Valley. There will be four Toast of Vail sessions at the park adjacent to Ford Sculpture Garden and Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, CO on Friday, June 25: 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, June 26: 12-2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. Tickets cost $49 per session or $89 for an all-day pass and can be purchased here. TPP is working closely with Eagle County Health to ensure that the event is safe for everyone in attendance and is following proper safety restrictions. Breckenridge Wine Classic

Breckenridge Wine Classic pairs wine with mountain adventure from September 16-19, 2021. Guests will be able to experience over 100 food artisans, wineries, breweries, distilleries, epicurean purveyors, and locally-made products over the weekend, with seminars, tastings, and luncheons perfect for everyone’s preferences. The two two-hour Grand Tasting sessions will be hosted at Beaver Run Resort at 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, September 17, and 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 18. Tickets are $99 each or guests can purchase Early Access Grand Tasting tickets for any sessions, granting them 30 extra minutes with winemakers and master sommeliers for $129. Double Trouble Grand Tasting tickets include early access and tickets to both sessions on Friday or Saturday for $225. The weekend will also be filled with wine dinners and pairings, and lifestyle and classroom seminars. Denver Burger Battle

Denver Burger Battle brings all of the best burgers to one venue with one goal: to determine the Best Burger in Denver. The smackdown began in 2010 and is returning in August 2021 to crown a new victor. Dozens of restaurants from across the Denver-metro area compete for burger dominance and the title of Best Burger in Denver. Aside from burgers, Denver Burger Battle also has fun activities, craft beer, cocktails, and live music, making this a go-to event this summer!
