Lego has upped the game with the debut of a full-scale model of an X-Wing fighter from Star Wars.

It took 5,335,200 blocks and weighs in at 45,979.61 pounds (including bricks and steel a wingspan of 44 feet.

Lego took the specs from the Lego 9493 X-Wing Fighter that you can pick up in stores for around $60.   They just increased them 42 times.

The X-Wing was shipped from Lego’s headquarters in Kladno, Czech Republic to New York City.  It’s currently on display in Times Square and will move cross-country to  Legoland California Resort.

While we’re still a long way off from casting the role, odds are that Ronan could be offered first crack at the role once Avengers 2 starts filming (assuming the character makes it to the final draft of the script, of course).

The good news is that Ronan was made aware of Whedon’s comments and during an interview with the Mary Sue, she said she’d be interested in taking the role.

“I love Joss and I love those films, and I love his handle on them and how he portrayed these kinds of superheroes. I think it’s very different from what anyone else has done. So yeah, I’d love to be in it,” she says.

She went on to add that she hopes she her taking on the role happens.

Joss Whedon recently revealed he’s including Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch in the upcoming sequel to the Avengers.

But audiences will get introduced to the cinematic version of the character in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.  Director Bryan Singer tweeted this week, ““Before he was an #Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver.”

Does this mean that Whedon’s plans to use Quicksilver could be quashed since he’ll be in the X-Men franchise first?  Or does it mean that our hopes of super deluxe movie universe cross over could someday be a reality?

They posted a time-lapse video, complete with ratings for all of the classic episodes on YouTube.  The group ranged in age from 26 to 74 and a tally was kept of “occurances” for each episode (for example, a red shirt dies).

This time it’s the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station in Southern California. The video was created in 2010 as an instructional safety video and it involves employees from the plant getting dressed up as Star Trek characters.

The video was never meant for public consumption. That is until an employee leaked it to the media.

It’s raised some eyebrows among those who have seen the video. It probably doesn’t help matters that the plant has been under public scrutiny after environmental activist group, Friends of the Earth, after a photo was published of a leaky pipe at the plant being held up with masking tape, plastic bags and broom handles.

The Nuclear Regulatory Committee has looked into the video but didn’t cite the plant for any violations. The video was meant to emphasize three-way communication. Explains NRC spokesman Victor Dricks, “That’s where an officer requests something, the person responds back saying what the request was and the first person confirms it by repeating it,” adding, ” “Since it was filmed in a simulator, there was no safety issue.”

The release date for the film has moved up to Wednesday, August 21.

Actor Sam Neill is hinting that may be the case.

Speaking to Dominion Post, Neill says that he is unlikely to be part of the next Jurassic Park film and that he hears, “I’m told it’s a big reboot, a total re-jig.”

So, do you think this is a good idea for the franchise?

For right now, we don’t have any confirmation of the news.  So, take it with a grain of salt until we hear something official from Universal.

The new service will attempt to reward both writers and the original rights holders for new fiction based on existing stories and characters.

Yes, you read that right — Amazon will soon be paying writers to publish fan fic.

There are some stipulations, however.  For now, all fan fic published through the service must be tied to Warner Bros. Television Group’s Alloy Entertainment division. Amazon has signed an agreement with the group, which holds the rights to popular titles like Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and the Vampire Diaries. Amazon hopes to sign other deals with other property owners as the service expands.

Writers who published stories with 10,000 words or more will receive 35% of the royalties from each sale. Those who write shorter pieces between 5,000 and 10,000 words will receive a digital royalty of 20 percent of the sales price. Royalties will be paid monthly.

“Our goal with Kindle Worlds is to create a home for authors to build on the Worlds we license, and give readers more stories from the Worlds they enjoy,” Philip Patrick, director of business development and publisher of Kindle Worlds, said in a statement. “We look forward to announcing additional World licensing deals in the coming weeks.”

The new store will open its digital doors in June with 50 stories. It will include stores from previously published authors. The launch will also include the self-service submission platform to allow budding writers to submit their own work of fan fiction.

American Horror Story

She’ll join previously announced Oscar winner Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone and Gabourey Sidibe for season 3.

According to reports, she will play a self-involved party girl named Madison.

The upcoming third season is subtitled Coven.

It will air on FX later this year.

The studio denies reports that it is in talks to sell the movie-rights to Spidey back to Marvel.

The report apparently emerged from a misunderstanding regarding Sony’s rumored plans to separate its entertainment and technology divisions into two separate companies.

While Marvel Studios controls The Avengers and related properties, 20th Century Fox retains the rights to X-Men and Fantastic Four, and Sony holds Spider-Man.

Several properties – including Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Blade – have recently reverted to Marvel.

AMC Network CEO Josh Sapan tells the Hollywood Reporter that he sees no end date in sight for the popular zombie drama.

“We hope that zombies live forever and we’ve just begun to find out what the post-apocalyptic world is like,” he said. “We’ll be sitting here… in 2022 discussing the fact that Walking Dead is not over.”

A cast member recently said that the series could be shambling toward a silver-screen adaptation as well.

The studio gave the greenlight to a new version of the the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme time travel action movie.

Timecop was set in the near future where time travel is regulated by a police force. One officer runs afoul a crooked politician using time travel to further his political career.

It was based on a story published by Dark Horse Comics (the movie’s script was co-written by Dark Horse publisher Mike Richardson) and was one of Van Damme’s most successful films, both financially and critically.

Timecop also proved to be a mini-franchise for the studio, spawning a short-lived 1997 TV series on ABC and a direct-to-DVD sequel with an all-new cast.

The studio is approaching the new Timecop as a reboot and a re-imagining of the concept and is out to writers. Van Damme is not involved.

That treasure was a copy of Action Comics #1 that was being used for insulation along with a bunch of old newspapers.

Not knowing what he’d stumbled across, he put it up for auction on ComicConnect.

Within two days, bidding had passed $100,000. Of course, the comic isn’t in mint condition since it was used as insulation all these many years. But ComicsConnect says it “boasts bright, sparkling colors and sturdy off-white pages.” It’s also reportedly in good condition.

It could have been worth more had it not been ripped in an argument between Gonzalez and his in-laws.

“They got all excited and tried to take it,” Gonzalez told the Star Tribune. “I understand it’s something cool, but told them: ‘You don’t have to act so rude. I brought you in to show you, don’t grab it.’”

“That was a $75,000 tear,” noted ComicConnect co-owner Stephen Fishler.

Gonzalez will take home half of the final sale price — the rest will go to cover middle-man expenses and auctioneer fees.

Series star  Oona Chaplin, who plays Talisa Maegyr on the series, says an unnamed co-star has put her foot down and won’t do nude scenes anymore.

““One of the girls in the show who got her kit off the most in the first couple of seasons now doesn’t at all because she said, ‘I want to be known for my acting not for my breasts,’” Chaplin tells the Telegraph.

No word on which of the actresses from the show requested no more nude scenes.

She’s created a cardboard cutout of David Tennant in his tenth Doctor outfit and posted a series of pictures of them doing things together as a couple, such as cooking, reading a book and enjoying a bowl of Wheaties together.

Turns out the entire scene with Carol Marcus in her underwear was gratuitous, and one that writer Damon Lindelof doesn’t see the need for in retrospect.

“Why is Alice Eve in her underwear, gratuitously and unnecessarily, without any real effort made as to why in God’s name she would undress in that circumstance? Well there’s a very good answer for that. But I’m not telling you what it is. Because… uh… MYSTERY?” Lindelof tells Comic Book Movie.

Lindelof went on to add that there was a scene in which Benedict Cumberbatch was shirtless as John Harrison but that scene never made it into the final script.

“As for the shirtless scene… we scripted it, but I don’t think it ever got shot. You know why? Because getting actors to take their clothes off is DEMEANING AND HORRIBLE AND…” he says. “Oh. Right. Sorry.”

So, do you think the scene was too much or just a ploy to sell tickets to audience members?

The new season begins June 3.

Citing the Joss Whedon model of having an on-going threat as the story arc for each season, Guggenheim tells TV Guide that the adversarial role will be split among two DC villains next year.

“They’ll both be very recognizable names to fans of the comic book. We’re really excited about both of them,” he hints. “We’re definitely trying to take the show to the next level in Season 2. Obviously we’re feeling a lot of pressure, but also a huge desire to return with a few big bold statements that the show is not quieting down. If anything, it’s ramping up. It’s going to be cool. I’m really excited about both villains. We’ve set the bar pretty high for ourselves in terms of ending with a bang, and we’re looking to exceed that in Season 2.”

No word yet on which two villains we will see. Anyone suggestions?

The pair of pants that Hamill wore while filming the first Star Wars movie will go up for auction this week, with an estimated value of $70,00o-$100,000.

The pair of “cotton drill” pants made by famed jeans manufacturer Levi Strauss and Co. and were worn by Hamill for much of the filming.  The pants are a 29-inch waist and 37 inches in length with two six-inch slits up each side.

Customized by the famous London costumier Bermans & Nathans, they bear an original tag sewn to the inseam reading: ”Bermans & Nathans / 40 Camden St., / London N.W. 1.”

”Mark Hamill / 10490 Luke / Star Wars” is printed in type beneath it.

The pair have been sold at least twice before, and went up for bidding online two weeks ago.

The duo, who have re-created the themes to other popular genre shows like Doctor Who and Game of Thrones, have arranged the theme to Star Trek for the electric harp.

Dressed in Starfleet dress uniforms, the twins play an arrangement that is a hybrid of the classic Trek and the Next Generation themes.

Maybe, with news that Simpsons writer Jon Vitti will write the script for the upcoming animated feature.

Sony Pictures is distributing the movie and has a July 1, 2016 date penciled in.

Vitti won an Emmy for his work on King of the Hill, was a longtime writer-producer on The Simpsons and worked on The Simpsons Movie.

His other credits include Saturday Night Live, The Larry Sanders Show and The Office, as well as the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.

Reddit user Oremar posted a May 17 letter brought home by his son that states, “Recently it has come to our attention that the imaginations of our preschool children are becoming dangerously overactive causing injuries within our pre-k community. Although we encourage creative thinking and imaginary play, we do not promote out [sic] children hurting one another. Wrestling, Super Hero play, and Monster games will not be permitted here at [name redacted]. In addition, please monitor the different media that your children may view. The re-enactment of televisions [sic] shows/movies are being done during active paly [sic] times in school.”

ABC previously confirmed that canceled series Zero Hour will air its 10 remaining episodes between June 15 and August 3.

Microsoft is developing a live-action series based on the popular game with Steven Spielberg serving as a producer.

“The Halo universe is an amazing opportunity to be at that intersection where technology and myth-making meet to produce something truly groundbreaking,” Spielberg said during the Xbox One reveal event.

It is unknown where in the Halo series the show will take place, or which characters will appear.

The show will debut on Xbox One, though there is no air date yet for the series, and it is unclear if it will be broadcast outside of Xbox One.

Actress Ellen Page thought her days as Kitty Pryde were behind her.

That’s why she was pleasantly surprised when she was asked to reprise the role in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

“I didn’t know for that long,” she told Collider. “I knew they were kind of doing it, but I didn’t expect it. I didn’t expect to play Kitty Pryde again, so when that came up and I met with Bryan [Singer], because I didn’t work with Bryan I worked with Brett Ratner, it was just awesome. I feel so grateful to be back… Really, truly, it’s not like something I’ve known for a year by any means. I really didn’t know that long before we went to shoot.”

Abrams has included such appearances for both of his Trek films. He did so on a limited scale in the first film titled simply “Star Trek” with the biggest kudo possible by getting the original Spock, Leonard Nimoy, to appear as Spock Prime for nearly the length of the entire movie. Two of the lesser known cameos came from someone tied to the franchise. One genetically and the other through an intense life-long love that extended to the depths of his pocket book and career choice. The first is Christopher Doohan, son of famed Star Trek actor James Doohan, the one and only Captain Montgomery “Scotty” Scott. Chris had a very small non-speaking role in the first film and was briefly seen sitting next to the new Scotty played by Simon Pegg. In this second film Chris’ role has been expanded to a small speaking part as the Enterprises’ Chief Transporter Officer. During the first film James Cawley, the creator, producer and actor of the first highly successful “Trek fan series” Star Trek Phase II (aka New Voyages) made a brief appearance as a command bridge officer. However, he was missing from Into Darkness.

Other interesting cameos include a non-person. Author and economist Zecharia Sitchin spent nearly 70 years making the world familiar with what he called the 12th Planet – Nibiru. And while his planet makes a cameo for this movie it’s not quite what Sitchin had imagined. Real people cameos include several actors from the highly anticipated fan production “Star Trek Continues,” who were on hand as the Starfleet Ceremonial Honor Guard. By-the-way, the Star Trek Continues first full episode will debut at this year’s Phoenix Comic Con May 23-26, 2013 and soon after that worldwide online. Chris Doohan stars in his father’s role as Montgomery Scott in Star Trek Continues – full Scottish brogue in tact.

One of Abrams’ biggest cameo catches was that of actress Aisha Hinds, best known as Miss Jeannette in the award winning HBO “True Blood” series. She comes on board the Enterprise as a Navigation Bridge Officer and plays a prominent role in the Enterprise’s mission. Aisha will be seen next in the new television series “Under the Dome” based on a story by Stephen King and produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television production company.

Jason Matthews Smith is back as security officer Lt. Hendorff, the guy that kind of beat Kirk to a pulp in the first film. Amanda Foreman (Parenthood) returns as Ensign Brackett and Sean Blackmore (Stargate Universe) gives us our first real look at Klingons in this alternate Trek timeline.

The most interesting cameo choice was the inclusion of famed producer, director and writer Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend, Fringe, Jonah Hex) as one of several Starfleet Admirals seen in one of the film’s most crucial scenes. Finally, one cameo didn’t include an onscreen shot. SNL’s Bill Hader provided the voice for the starship USS Vengeance’s computer.

The movie hits theaters on July 26th.

The illustrious leader of Torchwood starred as Zaza for La Cage Aux Folles a few years back and he was brillant. He joins other Doctor Who notables such as David Tennant and current Doctor Matt Smith who also donned wig & gown for drag roles.

Don’t they all look positively smashing!

One person commented that David looked much better than most of the girls he dated. Not sure I’d agree but Barrowman is certainly gorgeous.
