]]>First, try making your own aloe gel. Aloe is nature’s top sunburn reliever. Simply take a fresh aloe leaf from the center of the plant, cut it and drain it into a bowl. You can apply it directly to your skin, or blend it in a food processor. For best results, let the gel cool in the fridge before applying it to your skin.
Next, you can try yogurt. Its natural anti-inflammatory components make it a highly sought after remedy. Plain or Greek yogurt are best (unless you want to smell like fruit,) in which case, it’s perfectly ok to use flavored yogurt. Apply the yogurt to your skin and allow it to dry before gently patting it away. You can also add a little lavender to the yogurt to help enhance its soothing effect.
Finally, try strawberries. The tannins in strawberries are reportedly highly effective at soothing sunburns. Take your berries, blend them in a mixer, then apply to the burn. Allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes, then wash away with cool water and apply a moisturizer such as coconut oil.
As tempting as it may be, don’t apply ice directly to the burn. The temperature change will actually cause more damage than a gentle, cool shower.
