Fireworks will be going off in different private celebrations all over the place, along with the stray fireworks  that always find their way to the streets when folks are out and about celebrating our nations independence.

For the official fireworks display in Salem, this summer fans of freedom and lights need come down to Derby Wharf. Around 9pm on the Fourth of July is when Derby Wharf will be alight with fireworks. It is going to be a lot of fun for sure.

With a rain date scheduled for the 5th, there is even that contingency put into effect. Make sure to keep your ear pressed to the ground to hear all of the latest news and see what your friends and neighbors are saying about their plans on our community Facebook page .

Outsiders think that the Salem festivals we have are all about witches or something “supernatural,” but the fact is that there are Salem festivals all the time. One of the coolest of the festivals in Salem happens each summer. For three days this June, Salem residents can view artwork for free when downtown Salem transforms into a showcase for the arts during the Salem Arts Festival!

Don’t miss the Salem Arts Festival happening this year, June 7-9th! The Arts Festival is a celebration of all manner of art! Painting, photography, dance, writing, film, performance, new media, sculpture, theatre, culinary, and whatever else you can think to ascribe an art form to will be on display If it’s got an artistic outlet, chances are it will be a part of the Salem Arts Festival.

Organized by Salem Main Streets and a smattering of organizations that provide support for this festival, The Salem Arts Festival is really a new event each year. Every new instillation challenges one from years past and the quality keeps being upgraded as local and regional artists all have their turn in the limelight.

Attention residents of Jefferson at Salem Station! Would you like to enjoy some events in Bellingham that will be unforgettable? How about getting in for free at the Peabody Essex Museum for their PEM/PM event.

This Thursday, May 16th, from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, all Salem residents will be admitted free for the evening to the PEM for a fabulous evening of cocktails from the cash bar and the great sounds of Dan & The Wildfire. Once you get your groove on, you can enjoy even more ‘roots’ by the Salem Community Gardens and Farmers Market, who will be dolling out tips on eating well and growing great produce (even in a container garden).

There will be other activities as well, such as a demonstration from Kyle Browne, an environmental artist, and the opportunity to express yourself though art by sketching a live model in costume from Modern Millie Vintage and Consignments!

Come to PEM for one of the cool PEM/PM events in Bellingham and have a great time mingling with other Salem-area residents! Be sure to bring your ID so you can attend for free. Non-residents have a $10 admission fee. Enjoy!

Keep tabs on your pet’s health with these helpful tips for walks on hot summer days.

The hot summer season can present the perfect opportunity to take your pet outside of your Jefferson at Salem Station Apartment for a walk in the park, on beach or in the neighborhood. At the same time, it is crucial that you remain mindful of important summer safety for dogs so that the hot weather will not impede your dog’s health.

Even though you may feel your dog can run and run for a great deal of time in the sun, it is important to remember that dogs can suffer from heat exhaustion, so give him a break. Make certain that you keep a good supply of water on hand for your pet, and take breaks in a shaded area so that your pet can cool off.

Be aware if your dog is becoming over heated. For instance, if your dog is panting excessively or appears to be having trouble breathing, or looks weak, take him back to your apartment. If your pet begins to vomit or have diarrhea, take your dog to a vet as soon as possible.

Grill up Dad a juicy steak on Father’s Day at Salem Station’s outdoor kitchen.

We don’t need to wonder about the real luxury of our Salem apartments. When you think about where Jefferson at Salem Station stands in terms of other apartment communities in the area, it’s not hard to see why our community is just so well received.

Of course, our community is about a little more than just the bells-and-whistles that we think about when detailing a luxury apartment community. They are actually much more than that! Did you know for example that you can grill dad the perfect Father’s Day steak on our community grills?

It is these community amenities which really separate our apartment community from others in the area. Maybe you can grill up the steaks on our community grills, and then, concurrent with that your mom or wife, someone else can be preparing all the side dishes in our Euro style kitchens as your dad sits before your own in apartment gas fireplace sipping a short glass of brandy.

The fireplace will be dormant because Father’s Day is in the middle of the summer, but that doesn’t mean dad can’t come back in the winter months to see that fireplace in full-glory as you prepare more steaks for him!
