But Frank Ocean wasn’t done: Jay-Z’s touring lead vocalist on Empire State of Mind released her own version the next day.

AR: Brenmar gets one of the better haircut experiences I’ve ever witnessed to this hot house track. Then again, my barber is a burly Uzbek, so my expectations are lower.

i Heard it On: I Guess I’m Floating

AR: The guitar tries the show in this return track from The Antlers, but its the plaintive vocals and pure production on this one that won me over.

4. Bon Iver, “Calgary” (mp3/stream) (Indie Folk)

AR: Had this on repeat yesterday. Bon Iver brings back the sound of For Emma, Forever Ago but with a little more energy, perhaps reflecting Yeezy’s influence but also a little Volcano Choir.

DJFD picks the SebastiAn-M.I.A. hookup “C.T.F.O.” that is as repetitive, droning and dirty as it is funny, short and sweet – annoy your neighbors with this track.

1. SebastiAn “C.T.F.O.” Feat. M.I.A. (Stream/mp3) (Electro)

AR: Tempted to call this the first step in M.I.A.’s redemption tour, but I’m really more excited about the production here. It’s fun but goes just hard enough to stand out.

2. Theophilus London “Last Name London” (stream/mp3)

Ant: Theo gave me a sneak peak on this one a few months back and this one is a keeper. His confidence combined with the darkness and urgency of the track is a perfect marriage.

3. Oh Land “Sun of A Gun” (Jacob Plant Remix) (mp3/stream) (Electropop)

AR: The contrast between this Danish star’s vocals and the energy from the electro is just great.
