As a part of this year’s STOMP Musical, we are offering Art Classes for children K-5th grades. Classes will meet early on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons. Different projects will be offered at each session so your child can sign up for multiple classes. Registration is required. A detailed schedule is available in the Children’s Information Center on the 2nd floor. Classes begin on February 15th.

We are just beginning our special month of February on Wednesday nights for our 3 year olds through 5th graders. We will have special guests during the month such as our Worship Pastor, Micah Kersh and our Senior Pastor, Dennis Newkirk. We will also continue to learn about being devoted to God’s Word.

This coming Wednesday night, February 8th will be “Pajama Night.” On February 15th—“Count Your Blessings Night” (wear something with a number on it); on the 22nd—“Follow Your Leader” (your STOMP leader will fill you in!) and on the 29th—“Things That Leap” (frogs, ballerinas, insects, cheerleaders, gymnasts, kangaroos, etc.) We will also be working on our Worship Musical.

This Wednesday January 18th we will be announcing the STOMP Musical for 2012. 

Auditions for all 1st - 5th grade children who are interested in special parts will be Sunday January 22nd from 3:00-4:30 in room C-207 OR Tuesday January 24th from 6:30-7:30 also in room C-207.  Kindergarten children do not need to audition as they already have a special part. 

The musical will be presented on Wednesday May 9th in the Worship Center from 6:30-7:30.

STOMP and Pre-STOMP kids are back from the Christmas break.  Our STOMP kids are learning this month about how to be devoted to God through knowing His Word.  Don't forget to bring you bible! 

Don't miss the big announcement on Wednesday night, January 18th!  This year's STOMP Worship Event is scheduled for Wednesday night, May 9th!  Auditions will be Sunday January 22nd from 3:00-4:30 or on Tuesday January 24th from 6:30-7:30 in upstairs children's area room C-207.  You only need to attend one audition.  Kindergarten kids do not need to audition because they already have a special part. 

Fabulous, Fantastic, Fun-filled February is coming with 5 crazy Wednesday nights during STOMP and Pre-STOMP.  Be looking for more information on dress-up nights.

Don’t forget that Wednesday night is Pajama Night at Pre-STOMP and STOMP.

Dress up in your favorite comfy clothes and slippers and join us as we look at listening to God.

Next Wednesday night is a STOMP Dress Up Night. We’re going to be studying about listening to God’s voice and just like Samuel in the Old Testament we’re going to do it in our pajamas.

Wednesday, October 26th is Pajama Night. So, get ready for bed a little early and head to STOMP!

 Last night we had 283 children from age 3 through 5th grade attend the STOMP and Pre-STOMP kickoff. It was a great night of getting to know our teachers, dip-n-dots, and fun large group time. Here is a link to the Henderson Hills Flicker photo account to view photos from last night.

Next week we will begin our "Devoted to His House" series with "We are Family". We will be learning that the Church is all about God and people. Ephesians 2:19-20 says “Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of His household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone.”

Wednesday August 24th at 6:30 we will kickoff our fall season of STOMP and Pre-STOMP. This year we will learn how to “Follow God” by being Devoted to His House, to His Word, and to Prayer. STOMP t-shirts will be available for $7 each, and a special treat for everyone is planned. Registration cards will be mailed to your home and returned this night. We are excited to get started, all we need is YOU!

We are just 6 weeks from STOMP and Pre-STOMP kickoff.  Mark your calendar for Wednesday Night August 24th at 6:30.  You will NOT want to miss it!

The STOMP Musical is just a week away, and we have lots of fun things planned to get us ready.

This Friday Night, April 30th is the STOMP Friday Night party. This is for all STOMP kids 1st through 5th grade. We will have a fun run with a special prize at the end, a healthy dinner, some practice time on the musical, and much, much more. The fun starts in the Gathering at 6:00 pm. Come in and check in at the kiosk. We will end at 9:30 in the Worship Center. There is no cost for this activity, but we will have a donation jar to offset the cost of the dinner.

Sunday May 1st we will need strong help (dads please come help!) as we set up the stage for with the large choir loft. If you can help us, just come at 1:00 in the worship center

Sunday May 1st afternoon we will have a few rehearsals in the worship center. You will receive an email if your part will be rehearsing.

Monday May 2nd from 6 – 8:30 rehearsal in the worship center. (Kindergarten children will be released at 7:30). Pick up your t-shirt as you leave.

Tuesday May 3rd from 6- 8:30 rehearsal in the worship center. (Kindergarten children will be released at 7:30). Receive your prayer bracelet.

Wednesday May 4th meet at 5:30 in the worship center with your t-shirt and black athletic shorts (long like basketball shorts) or jeans. After the musical we will have a special time in the gathering where we can celebrate Callie Fry and love on her and her family.

Just Run!

On Wednesday night, May 4th, at 6:30 in the main worship center, our kindergarten through 5th graders will be showing us that as Christians we all run in the race. They will be utilizing drama, singing, scripture memorization, dancing and other movement to tell the story from God’s Word about what makes us all runners. The scene is set at a fun run as they learn that “winners never quit, and quitters never win!” We will hear from heroes in the faith such as Noah, Moses, Joseph, Isaac, and many more. The STOMP race team lead us through the story so that we don’t miss the teaching from God’s Word.

Please join us on that night as over 200 children share the “running the race” is from God’s point of view. Just remember…in Hebrew 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfector of our faith…”

Children’s Choir Needed for Easter Weekend!

The kids will sing two songs at the beginning of all three of the Easter weekend services on Saturday, April 23rd and Sunday, April 24th(Saturday 5:30 PM, Sunday 9:00 AM, Sunday 11:00 AM). It’s very important that your child is able to participate in all three of these services. Then, to prepare for this, they need to attend the following rehearsals:

Wednesday, April 6th 7:45-8:15 PM in Rm. C-214 upstairs in the children’s building- pickup Music CD and review songs.
Wednesday, April 13th 7:45-8:30 PM meeting in Rm. C-214
Wednesday, April 20th 7:45-8:45 PM meeting in Rm. C-214 and then we’ll finish rehearsal in the Worship Center
Saturday, April 23rd meet in the Worship Center at 4:45 PM for sound check and rehearsal
Sunday, April 24th meet in the Worship Center at 8:15 AM for sound check and rehearsal

On Saturday night, the kids will be done singing about 5:45 PM. At that time, the kids are finished and can be picked up by parents in the Gathering.

On Sunday morning, the kids will need to be in the Worship Center at 8:30 AM and will stay together, under our supervision (Ms. Connie and Ms. Callie), until they finish singing in the 10:45 service. Once they sing in the 9:00 service, we will go upstairs to the children’s area to eat donuts and have a special worship and fellowship time together. Then we’ll come back down to the Worship Center in time to line up for the 11:00 service. As soon as they finish singing in the 11:00 service, the kids are finished and can be picked up by parents in the Gathering. If you are attending the 9:00 service and would like your child to come and sit with you, that is great! Please just meet us in the Gathering immediately after they sing and we’ll send them with you. Then when the service is over, your child would need to meet us backstage by the choir room to line up for the 11:00 service.

Clothing:
Please wear nice, dress up clothes. Easter dresses and outfits are great!
Boys—Please wear dress pants. No jeans on Saturday night or Sunday morning.
Girls—If you wear a dress or skirt, it needs to be long. No short dresses. If you wear pants, please do not wear jeans.
Please use good judgment as you choose what to wear and remember that you will be standing up on a stage above the audience.

Your child will receive a CD and lyrics of the two songs at our first rehearsal on Wednesday, April 6th The songs are “Revelation Song” and “Rise and Sing”.

Thank you for sharing your children with us on Easter!!!!!!

Hi friends,
It is with joy and sadness that I tell you that our friend Callie Fry has accepted a Children’s Director position at the North Campus of Second Baptist Houston. She will be here with us through May 15th and then she will be moving to the north Houston area after school is out. We celebrate the legacy of Callie and all that God has done through her. This is a letter from her to each one of you. Congratulations Callie…we will miss you but we are so blessed that we have been able to serve with you. You have taught us so much. - Connie

My dear friends,

God has shown Steven and I that He has a new plan for our family in a new place. Over the last 2 months, God has opened doors and placed steps in front of us that have gradually revealed this new plan. Steven has recently accepted the First Assistant Band Director position at Tomball High School in Tomball, Texas just north of Houston. I have recently accepted the Children's Director position at the North campus of Second Baptist Church.

For over a year, Steven and I have sensed God preparing us for something new. We have spent a lot of time praying and seeking what this might mean. We certainly did not expect the "something new" to involve leaving Henderson Hills. However, God has given us clear direction and peace that this is what He wants for us. In addition, God has brought me, personally, through a journey of healing and renewal this year, and we believe it has been part of God's preparation for this new plan.

We love Henderson Hills and we love all of you. We have grown so much in our time here, and I'm grateful that I've had the amazing opportunity of serving alongside you. Thank you for the way you've been our friends and our partners in ministry.

Thank you all for the impact you've had on our lives--all four of us.

Join us on Wednesday nights at 6:30 for a time of learning to love, honor and worship God.  The dress-up night for this coming week is Crazy Hat or Crazy Hair night.  We will learn how God makes each one of us unique!  Also, don't forget to mark your calendars for the Pre-STOMP Program on April 13th and the STOMP Worship Musical Event on May 4th

We are making up two dress up nights due to snow storms as we enter March. Remember, we are learning about running the race God has before us as we lift hight the name of Jesus!  Join us Wednesday nights at 6:30 (during evening services) to love, honor and worship God.  The dress-up night for this week is "Off to the Races." Get your reflective gear, work out clothes, NASCAR, or sweatbands and join us

Don't forget to "GO GREEN"  - Green means GO so dress in green from Head To Toe!

We will be passing out rehearsal schedules for the STOMP musical and begin working on music in our classrooms.

This Wednesday night is the first dress up night for Fabulous Fantastic Fun-filled February. “Off to the Races” is the theme so dress up in your racing gear (reflective gear, Work out clothes, Nascar, Sweatbands.. ) and come ready for a great night as we learn about Daniel, Faith to Obey.

Additional Dress up nights are:  Wednesday February 9th - "Crazy Hat or Crazy Hair Night"; Wednesday February 16th - "Pajama Night"; and Wednesday February 23rd is "Go Green".

Remember.. if we have inclement weather, we will reschedule that night’s theme for sometime in March.

This Wednesday Night January 19th we will be announcing the name of our spring STOMP Musical. You will not want to miss this action packed, fun filled night. It all starts at 6:30 in the upstairs children’s area. (Musical is on Wednesday May 4th in the Worship Center)

Every child who attends STOMP on Wednesday nights are automatically in the musical, but if your 1st – 5th grade child would like a special part (drama, choreography, or scripture reader), you will need to attend one of the auditions. Auditions are scheduled for Sunday afternoon January 23rd from 3:00 – 4:30 OR Tuesday night January 25th from 6:30-7:30. Audition sign-in is in room C-207. This is a “come and go” audition, so you will not be required to stay the whole time.

KINDERGARTEN children do not need to audition as they already have a special part!

This Wednesday Night October 13th our 5th graders will lead us in a worship service. It will take place in room C-214 at 6:45 and again at 7:10. Parents are welcome to attend and sit behind the children.

If you are a 5th grader, please be in room C-214 at 5:45 to help setup. Please wear denim jeans or capris. For shirt please wear swamped in faith t-shirt,camo shirt, or green/brown shirt.

STOMP and Pre-STOMP Presents -

NOAH NIGHT - this Wednesday Night September 29th.  Come dressed as your favorite animal or favorite color of the rainbow!

This is a BIG night because we will get to really see how big the ark was that Noah built.  Each one of us will get to be “inside” this big “ark” that will be in one of the north parking lots. We will get to be around some live animals and imagine being in the ark with real animals right there with you!  Now even though the animals are real, the size of the “ark” will be real, we’re not really making our “ark” out of wood.  We have come up with a very interesting way to show you how BIG the ark was.  You will have to come that night to believe it!

STOMP and Pre-STOMP kickoff is Wednesday night August 25th. You will be receiving your enrollment card in the mail soon, so get them filled out and come join your friends and meet some new ones, as we kick off an exciting year! This year in STOMP will be focusing on "Living a life of FAITH".  Come to STOMP and get "Swamped in FAITH"

August is filled with fun things to do and we would like to tell you about some exciting things that are happening here at Henderson Hills.

Kids Kamp leaves this Monday August 2nd for all kids who have completed 3rd – 5th grade. Contact Wendy Fuller for more information.

Sunday August 15 is a picnic on the village green and concert with Jami Smith. The new STOMP t-shirt will be available to purchase for $5 and if you fill out your Pre-STOMP or STOMP registration card and turn it in, you will receive a very cool gift.

Wednesday August 18th is Family Worship Night at Henderson Hills. Bring your family to the worship center for a “VBS style” worship night. Afterwards – we would like to meet with all kindergarten children and their parents for a 30 minute “get acquainted”. Join us upstairs in room C207 and meet the STOMP Leadership and kindergarten leaders. We will answer your questions, and make your child more comfortable with the move “upstairs”.

Finally, Wednesday August 25th is the first night of STOMP. T-shirt will be available for $5. We are very excited about this year’s theme – “Swamped in Faith”.

To all parents of Kindergarten-middle school

This coming Sunday, July 4th, we would like to use a Children’s Choir in our services for the song: “Spring Is Coming”, a song by Stephen Curtis Chapman. We are not having services on Saturday night, so they would only be needed for the two services on Sunday morning. Rehearsal for this song is this Wednesday night, June 30th at 6:30 in Room C-208. Please email Connie Goodson and confirm that you would like to participate in this. We will learn the song on Wednesday night, then go down to the Worship Center and rehearse with the band and Adult Vocal Team and should be done by 8:15. You may pick up your child in the Worship Center. On Sunday morning, please have your child in the Worship Center by 8:00. We will be taking care of them throughout the morning. This is a wonderful opportunity for your children to lead out in a worship time and to encourage the Body of Christ. I hope many, many children will be able to participate. No special clothing required, but your normal sunday clothes.  If you have questions, please contact me.

VBS 2010 Music
