The Secret World

This horror MMO game looks to have truly unique elements like having no classes, and the ability to constantly shift around your 7 active and 7 passive skills to customize at any time.  I played some of the beta and it is atmospheric, creepy and also insanely different than other MMO games I have played.  A game set in modern times where all the hidden monsters and creatures of myth, legend and lore lurk between the streets and in the shadows this is game has been in development for years.

Max Payne 3

Max Payne was famous for bullet time, a slow motion mode where everything slowed down and you can watch each bullet fly in slow mow leaving a trail behind it.  Max Payne 2 was even better with a truly haunting back story (anyone remember the dream sequence) and the 3rd looks to set Max Payne across 3 different points of his life and bring it all together.

Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2 already has the most interest and subscribers I have seen for any game ever, it had about 10x the number of people interested and applying for the beta than The Secret World and an amazing array of options for combo fighting.  I played the original for 3 years with all expansions and still never fully completed the first trilogy on all accounts.  Guild Wars 2 is larger, more vast and has so much more including elements of environment that affect combat as well.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Already available for pre-order even though it probably has a later release date than the other games listed.  Will it raise the bar even higher for fans of one of the most successful shooters in history?  There will also be a zombie mode in Black Ops 2 from what I have read which is extremely fun and also can leave you jumping when you are surrounded by zombies shooting and knifing for your life in the middle of the night.

Many of these games have such high system requirements now that you will likely enjoy them with a new system upgrade, I tend to focus on the budget gaming laptops and recently bought a Lenovo Z575 which works very well for most games unless you want hardcore gaming resolution graphics and frame rates.  You get a lot of bang for your buck for a $459 laptop honestly.

If you want something a bit more powerful, you can’t go wrong with the Asus G75VW which is the best gaming laptop for under $1700 that I have been able to find anywhere.  This one features 2GB Geforce GTX 660m video card and 16GB of DDR3 RAM.  It comes with a 1TB 7200RPM or 750GB 7200RPM drive instead of an SSD which keeps the cost lower but would have slower startup and app load times than one with a large SSD drive.  Still ultimately I would rather have the increased RAM and video card and keep costs lower and add in an SSD later.

The SEO process should not be overlooked by bloggers and webmasters in general. Those little tweaks and optimization tricks are vital in order to get more traffic from big search engines like Google or Bing; the more visitors arrive to your site, the more money you make. At least that’s how it is for the major part of the sites on the Internet.

Fortunately for us, there are a lot of SEO related extensions (add-ons, plug-ins) for the top web browsers in the market. Today, I’m going to share with you, my 3 favorite extensions for this browser, that make my life easier when it comes to SEO, and I’ll share an example of how you can use those extensions too.

SEO for Chrome

This is an all-in-one tool for those who want to know more about a site. With a single click, you can know in depth, a lot of details about a certain website. For example, you can retrieve this relevant information:

• Number of pages indexed in all major search engines.
• Number of backlinks according to multiple sources like Majestic SEO, Google, Alexa and Semrush, among others.
• Traffic details (pageviews, demographics, unique visitors) provided by third party companies like Quantcast, Compete or Alexa.
• Social factors: It shows you how many times a certain page has been submitted to services like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon, Digg, etc. This is extremely important to measure how popular a website is.
• Cached versions. It will display whether the current site has been cached by search engines. The caching frequency is directly proportional to relevancy/authority and post frequency of a site.

SEO for Chrome extension

As you can see, this tool can provide you with a lot of information that will help you to create a profile of a website.

PageRank

AS you might guess by the title, this extension only does one thing, and it does it right. It will show you the PageRank of the site you’re browsing automatically. There are a lot of extensions with this feature built in, but it’s more comfortable to have the actual PR displayed automatically every time you visit a website.

When you install this extension, you’ll notice a small bar in the top right side of your browser which will update automatically. Probably this add-on doesn’t do much, but I find it incredibly useful, specially when I’m building links.

MozBar

This extension has been developed SEOmoz, on of the most respected SEO communities out there. In essence what this extension does is provide you with link and onpage data from the site you’re visiting. It will highlight dofollow/nofollow, internal/external links and will analyze the page structure as well: h1,h2 (heading tags), meta-description, meta-keywords, bolded keywords, etc.

However, the feature I love the most about MozBar is the SERP overlay feature. Every time you input a query in Google, you’ll see a little bar below each entry, with information regarding PA/DA (Page Authority and Domain Authority), which are two extremely important factors when evaluating the quality of a website.

You can tweak the settings for this extension in order to get a better user experience. Just play with the settings until you find a comfortable environment to work in.

An increasing trend is for social networks to operate through the same platforms such as OpenID and OpenSocial. Mobile phone users can also now create their own profiles, chat and share photos and videos. Another trend is for smartphone users to let their friends know where they are and what they are doing through social networking sites such as Twitter with its 140-character limit and Facebook with its Live Feed function. Foursquare also allows its users to “check-in” to locations such as bars, clubs and restaurants via the GPS system in your smartphone.

Social networking is at its most basic level though a way for people to connect with other people online. Using social networks to find people with similar interests is often referred to as niche networking. This can also be the basis for meeting people you have connected with online in real life situations.

If you are looking for something different from Walking Dead: The Game and hope for more than bashing skulls, you won’t regret playing this title. This is one of the few zombie games that don’t involve excessive and gratuitous violence, but revolve around solid narratives. Players are invited to discover each setting and get to know every character, instead of blazing their way to objectives that mean little to them.

Stand behind the choices you make

You assume the role of Lee Everett, a character that is shrouded in mystery and whose path is uncertain enough to keep you guessing. Not knowing if our hero is a killer or not, bodes well with the rest of the story, because the character grows from the first minute of play. Lee is supposed to help little Clementine reunite with her parents, and survive the daily perils posed by the invasion of the zombies.

Times are tough and in moments like these, the decisions you make weigh heavier, so don’t be surprised if Lee is pit against difficult choices very often. You will often need to decide who lives and who dies, as time is short and you can’t save everybody. It is not only making a decision that is difficult, or the limited time that you have at your disposal to choose an action or another. The true challenge is to shape a character that is convincing and coherent, because there will be consequences for every decision.

Less action, more depth

If the developers stay true to their word and future installments will grow naturally on this first episode, it will be very interesting to see how other characters perceive our hero. Dialogues are smart and the voice acting impeccable, so it is a pleasure to talk and listen to other characters, but you should think twice about what you are saying. You have a limited period of time to give an answer, and what you say will be remembered and the other characters will interact differently with you.

The lack of difficult puzzles is compensated by the sheer depth of the human interactions, and what the game lacks in action it makes up in depth. Replaying a mission is rewarding because you see how making different decisions will impact the narrative, and you can have many takes on the same story. There are of course enough combat scenes to prevent the game from turning dull, but fighting the undead always remains a secondary activity.

If you’re looking for a diversion and want to see how a game featuring zombies can avoid turning into a bloodbath, don’t hesitate to check out Walking Dead: The Game. It fully deserves 4 1/2 stars out of five and the official trailer brilliantly captures the atmosphere of this type of, therefore is worth watching.

There are several exciting keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft’s Windows 7 Ultimate that many computers users are not aware of. Learning just a few of them can make your online experience much faster and simpler.

Windows Magnifier

For example, Win key + spacebar shows you the Windows 7 Ultimate desktop via Aero Peek, making open windows transparent and allowing you to see it without closing or minimizing them, Win + Up maximizes the current window you’re currently working with, Win + Down minimizes it, Win + Right/Left moves it right or left, Win + + opens up the Windows magnifier and zooms in and Win + – out. Ctrl + Shift + Click opens all your programs from both the taskbar and Start menu.

Windows 7 Mobile Gadgets

In Windows 7 Ultimate, instead of them being confined to the sidebar on the right side of your computer screen, gadgets are completely mobile across the desktop. In addition, the taskbar at the bottom of the desktop has a “jump list” giving you easy access to your programs, ranked by most recent use. For example, if you have carried out a number of searches using Google, right clicking the icon will display the most recent ones.

Windows 7 Pin Items

One of the most useful aspects of Windows 7 is that it allows you to select any program or item and “pin” it by right clicking it and choosing “Pin to Taskbar”. This makes it a lot quicker to open that program or item when you next want to use it. Programs and items that have been “pinned” are also included on “jump lists” on the taskbar at the bottom of the taskbar.

As you can see, the launch of Windows 7 in general and Windows 7 Ultimate in particular represents a major breakthrough in adaptable, mobile and user-friendly web-operating systems. This mobility is especially true when it comes to the system tray where you can move all the icons around until they are just where you want them.
