It’s time for What To Make With What’s On Sale! Memorial Day is almost here, and that means sale prices on condiments! If you didn’t get any $1.49 Kraft mayonnaise at Safeway last week, there are more good sales on mayo this week. Safeway has Hellmann’s or Best Foods mayo for $1.77 (after coupon), and King Soopers has the same for $1.99 after coupon.

Mayonnaise is a popular spread for sandwiches; it’s the base for lots of chilled salads, and it’s even included as an ingredient in some baked goods. Here are six recipes that use mayonnaise!

This Fresh Broccoli Salad is a classic dish for a picnic or potluck. Try tweaking it to suit your tastes — halved grapes instead of raisins, or sunflower seeds in place of almonds. Be sure to let it chill overnight so the flavors can meld!

Here’s a super simple recipe, Honey Mustard Dressing, that’s perfect for green salads, as a glaze for grilled chicken or fish, or as a dip for chicken fingers.

This colorful Cornbread Salad is another dish that’s always a hit at summer get-togethers. It’s a great complement to grilled burgers!

And if you want to add a special kick to those burgers, try Bobby Flay’s 5-star Chipotle Mayonnaise!

Old Navy: Tanks On Sale ($2 Or Less In Stores!)

Old Navy has all their tees and tanks on sale now through Memorial Day – in-store, they’ve got some starting as low as $2 (though I’m not sure which ones those are). Through today (Thursday), you can use this $5 off $25 coupon from their Facebook page to save even more in-store. Or you can try getting a coupon through their phone app!

Online, they have some starting as low as $4. I’m off to (hopefully) find my Old Navy receipt from last week to get a price adjustment on the tanks I bought!

PS – historically, Old Navy has had their $1 flip flop sale on Memorial Day weekend, but I haven’t heard anything about it yet this year. Anyone else have the inside scoop?

Home Depot has released their Memorial Day sale ad and they’ve got great deals on the usual suspects! You can get a two-pack of Kingsford Charcoal (13.9 lbs each) for $5.88, mulch for $2.50, and $5 off paint gallons (by mail-in or online rebate). The sales run today through May 30th; view the full ad here.

So, it looks like Walmart has the best deal on charcoal (30 lbs for $5.48), followed by Home Depot, and then by Lowe’s (40 lbs for $9.99). Either way, this is most likely the best deal we’ll see on charcoal until 4th of July!

The Rockies scored eight runs yesterday so you know what that means: stop by participating Taco Bell locations from 4 to 6 PM today (the day after the game) to get your special Rockies deal! The deal varies by location, but is usually something like four tacos for $1 with the purchase of a drink, or four tacos for $2 with no drink purchase.

Most Taco Bells participate in the deal, but not all do, so it’s not a bad idea to call ahead to confirm that your favorite location participates. The Rockies deal is available the day after the Rockies score seven or more runs (win or lose)

Walmart: Even Better Deal On Kingsford Charcoal Than Lowe’s!

Well, so much for the hot hot hot deal on charcoal at Lowe’s – it’s actually cheaper at Walmart! Erin said you can get two 15-pound bags for $5.48. At Lowe’s it’s $9.99 for 40 total pounds and I’m too lazy to do the per-pound math but it’s clearly cheaper at Walmart. ;) Either way, this is one of the best times of year to buy charcoal!

Home Depot hasn’t posted a new Memorial Day ad yet but they usually have a deal comparable to the one at Lowe’s on Memorial Day weekend.

PS – if you head to Walmart and happen to note the price of milk, be sure to update the Milk Price Tracker!

No Coupon Inserts On Memorial Day Weekend

Just a heads up: since it’s Memorial Day weekend, there won’t be any coupon inserts. (And this time, I’m actually all caught up on my clipping and filing so I can enjoy the weekend “off” of clipping. Such a stressful job couponing is. ;)

There’s some great deals at Safeway this week! I am kicking myself for buying Chinet plates last week – I’m losing my mojo on “wait to buy it until it reaches the lowest possible price”. This week, the large packs of plates are on sale for $4.49 and there was a $0.55/1 coupon in Sunday’s paper, making them just $3.49 after coupons! We rarely use paper plates but my family will be visiting this weekend so I decided to buy some rather than have to do some major dishes after every meal.

Also, at Starbucks locations inside Safeway stores, you can get a $2 Grande Frappuccino after 2 PM through May 28th!

Family Day Carnival at Gleneagle Golf Club

Gleneagle Golf Club will be holding a family carnival this Sunday, May 27th! It’s open to the public and they’ll have a bouncy slide, photo booth, milk bottle toss, bean bag toss, and more. Tickets for the carnival events are 4 for $1, 22 for $5, or 46 for $10; and they’re telling me that games will be 2-3 tickets each (photo booth and facepainting will be more).

The carnival is from 1 to 4 PM at the Gleneagle Golf Club. Find out more here.

Lowe’s: 40 Lbs Kingsford Charcoal For $9.99 + Memorial Day Paint Rebate

Lowe’s is again having great deals on paint and charcoal for Memorial Day 2012! A two-pack of Kingsford Original Charcoal (two 20-lb bags, 40 lb total) is $9.99 starting Thursday and running through Monday (Memorial Day). It’s limit two per person and is while supplies last.

They are also offering $5 off gallon-sized paints or stains, or $20 off five gallon cans by online or mail-in rebate. This is a little different than last Memorial Day, where they offered an instant $10 savings when you spend $50 on paint supplies. Still, it’s a pretty good deal!

Other sales I noted: 1.25 quart annuals are $1.88 (down from $2.98) and mulch (2 cubic feet) for $2.50 (down from $3.33).

I received their flyer in the mail but my guess is they’ll have it up here shortly as well.

Safeway, King Soopers: Earn 4X Fuel Points For Buying Gift Cards

Just a heads up that Safeway and King Soopers are both doing bonus fuel points when you buy gift cards! You’ll earn quadruple points for every dollar you spend on (most) gift cards. Also, Safeway has an in-ad coupon for double fuel points on your regular grocery purchase, too (must use the coupon for that one).

For example, at King Soopers this means that for every $1 you buy in gift cards, you earn four fuel points instead of just one. So, if you were to buy $100 in gift cards, you’d earn $400 points, which translates to $0.40 off per gallon of gas!

While it’s not a huge, amazing, incredible savings, when we have a big home improvement project coming up, I like to buy Lowe’s gift cards for as much as we plan to spend at King Soopers, especially if they’re doing quadruple fuel points. I figure if I get a $200 Lowe’s gift card and earn $0.80 off per gallon and fill my tank with at least 15 gallons, it’s a $12 or more savings that there would be no way to get otherwise.

I also like that you can use coupons at Lowe’s when you are paying with a gift card, too, so you can kind of double up on the savings that way. They also have gift cards for Home Depot, Target, and Amazon, among lots others.

Tips On Where To Get A Cheap Propane Tank Refill

This post was originally published in 2010, but with grilling season in full swing, I thought it would be good to bring it back to the top in case you need to get your propane tank refilled! Be sure to read the comments on this post for even more tips!

Awhile back reader Julie emailed me and let me know that she got a propane tank refilled for about $13.50 at All Rental. Last summer, it cost about $18-23 to do a tank exchange at Walmart and Walgreens, so you could probably save a handful of change by doing a refill instead of an exchange.

Julie said she also learned that you can have a propane tank refilled for up to 12 years before it needs to be re-inspected. You can find the re-inspection date on the tank.

Know of any other cheap ways to get a propane tank refilled in Colorado Springs?

Colorado Whole Foods stores will have organic raspberries (6 oz) on sale for $2.50 on Wednesday, May 23rd. This is not as low as I’ve seen them – sometimes, when King Soopers does a sale with raspberries for $1.00, organic will be included – but it’s probably one of the cheapest prices you can get right now.

I just glanced at their ad and they have Santa Cruz organic lemonades (32 oz) on sale for $1.00 through next Tuesday, May 29th! That’s about as low as they go, and is cheaper than they are at King Soopers.
