Summer is almost here, and with is comes plenty of outdoor activities. It is always important to remember the basics of sun safety.

Before you head out to enjoy the outdoor activities near our Houston apartments, be sure to read the following tips to prevent a sunburn:

• If possible, avoid excess sun exposure during the peak hours of 10 am to 3 pm. Indoor activities during these times, will prevent sunburns.
• A sunscreen with an SPF of 45 or higher is recommended for sun exposed areas. Don’t forget about delicate areas, like your lips, as well.
• Hard-to-reach areas sunburn easily, so ask for help when applying sunscreen to your back, ears, neck, and other difficult spots.
• The days of laying out for a suntan are over.  The damage done to your skin when you purposefully seek a tan is unavoidable.
• Make sure to wear a hat or apply sunscreen to your scalp as it can burn easily. Some shampoos also have an SPF, which is perfect for all of those sunny days.

Father’s Day is just around the corner. Do you know how you’ll be celebrating your dad yet? We have a few suggestions.

Looking for a great gift? Skip the standard gift cards or neckties and give him the gift of quality time instead. Spend the night hanging out at your dad’s favorite sports bar to have dinner and drinks and catch a game.

If you’d rather stick around your Houston luxury lofts, take advantage of the grills outside and make dinner yourself. Be sure not to overcook your steak and to let it rest for a few minutes after cooking to ensure that all the juices will stay inside. Don’t’ forget about the most important part of any dinner celebration: dessert! Choose a light dessert like a cream pie to finish off your meal.

Here are some great tips to help you create outstanding crayon art for your Houston luxury lofts.

If you are looking for some colorful artwork for your child’s room in your Energy Corridor Houston luxury apartment and enjoy experimenting with crafts, consider attempting this inexpensive canvas wall hanging.

You will need a blank canvas (9 x 12 is suggested but size may be adjusted to fit your decorating needs), pack of Crayola crayons, newspaper, glue gun and a blow dryer. If you would like a larger picture or one with only certain colors, use multiple packs of crayons to select the colors for your art.

Spread newspapers down over your work space to avoid spatters or drips. Select a spot near a wall outlet. Using a glue gun, attach crayons in a rainbow row above the top of the canvas. Prop the canvas up vertically so the drips naturally flow downward. Using high heat on a low air setting, heat the crayons so that the wax melts and drips down the canvas. The dryer should be 1″ – 3″ from the crayons and held at a downward angle.

Voila! You now have an inexpensive, original piece of Crayola art to brighten up a wall in your Briar Forest loft.
