Can’t wait for a fun, summer brewfest? The 6th Annual Northern Virginia Summer BrewFest is the weekend of June 22 and June 23 at Morven Park, near your Leesburg apartment.

The summer brewfest lets you sample different beers from a variety of microbreweries located around the world. Some of this year’s breweries include Lancaster Brewing featuring Strawberry Wheat and Williamsburg Alewerks featuring a White Ale.

You must be at least 21 years old to enter the festival. The price of adult admission includes a commemorative 4.75 ounce beer sampling glass and four beer sampling tickets. Each beer costs one to two tickets, but you can purchase additional tickets for $1 each. In addition, there will be plenty of food vendors and some local wine on site as well.

The event is on Saturday, June 22 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, June 23 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased online.

Do you play racquetball? Whether you’re a novice or a racquetball junkie, you’ll enjoy playing at our Leesburg apartments.

The Racquetball Lessons blog offers some easy tips that will help improve your game at our racquetball court. Here are three you can try right away.

  • 10 minute warm-up: Before each match, warm-up for 10 minutes by hitting the most shots like a down-the-line passing shot or a ceiling ball shot. This will help you make the shot as well as defend against it.
  • Watch the ball at all times: As you know, racquetball is a eye-hand coordination sport. Your attention should always be on the ball. This means watching your opponent hit the ball. You’ll be amazed at how much more aware you’ll become of the whole court by focusing on the ball.
  • Aim your serves: As a result of focusing on the ball, you’ll be able to aim your serves better. If you aim your serve at a target on the front wall, you’ll consistently hit better serves.

  • Fried chicken is always a great picnic item, and cold chicken is a favorite of many people.

With the summer season comes summer inspiration. Are you looking for a fresh new look? One great way to decorate your Leesburg apartment on a budget is to go green with a fun DIY craft. Here are a few tips for turning recycled magazines into your very own handheld baskets:

  • First, save up your magazines. Once you have about ten magazines, cut the pages up into 2.5″ vertical strips.
  • Fold your vertical strips in half lengthwise, then into quarters, and then again into eighths. The more you fold your pieces, the sturdier they will be for your basket.
  • Start weaving your strips from the center outward. You can use staples, double-sided tape, or glue dots to hold your strips into place the more you weave them.You can always remove the staples after the basket is complete.
  • Once you feel the bottom of your basket is large enough, take your extra strips and start folding them upward. Start weaving in horizontal strips and stapling them as you go for sturdiness.
  • Once you reach the top with your strips, fold them over and staple or glue them into place.

Are you looking for interesting day trips and hiking trails near Leesburg? The C & O Canal Towpath trail begins in the Georgetown and Washington DC area, near your Leesburg apartment.

The wilderness trail allows you to explore nature like no other experience. You’ll gaze at waterfalls along the Potomac River and see raging currents, as well as lots of deer and birds among the trees. You can hike along the trails or you can ride a trail bike along them. Hi-tech bikes don’t work well on the dirt roads. Bring plenty of snacks and water for your travels so you stay comfortable.

When you need to rest at night, you’ll find over 45 campgrounds along the route, as well as historical Canal quarters, if you prefer experiencing what it was like to live in a 19th century lock house.  In addition to walking and biking, you can ride in an historical canal boat or visit some Canal museums.

The luxury fitness center features programmable elliptical machines, treadmills, and exercise bikes in front of two large-screen televisions to make your work-out more enjoyable. It also includes weight machines to tone and strengthen all the core muscles in your upper and lower body. In addition, the fitness center features a large racquetball court, allowing you to mix up your routine.

Working exercise into your everyday life will not only help you lose weight but it reduces illness like heart disease and decreases depression. This is because getting up and moving gets you out and interacting with others, be it just chatting on the treadmills or over a friendly game of racquetball. Working out also improves your self-esteem, which improves your mental state.

You’ll be engulfed in nature as you browse the park grounds which feature a 3 1/2 acre pond, stream, various trails, nature center, fishing pier and more. The three quarter dog park is a recent addition to the park which allows your favorite canine pal the opportunity to get some exercise in a pet-friendly environment. While your dog is unwinding in the gated dog park, you might enjoy relaxing under one of the many shady trees located throughout the park. Or, perhaps you’d like to get some exercise with your pet pal by taking a brisk jog or tossing a frisbee around. The choice is yours, and the park provides ample space for various activities.
