The Georgia State Fair returns to EchoPark Speedway (formerly Atlanta Motor Speedway) for it’s annual fall run in 2026. And, as always, we’ve got the scoop on how you can save money on admission and rides.

Labor Day Weekend 2026 will feature many of the usual festivals, events, and traditions that we’re used to in Atlanta and the extended metro area.

We’re highlighting a few of the special events happening over Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta. And, at the very bottom of the post, you’ll find a day-by-day event listing for the entire holiday weekend, from Friday, September 4th through Monday, September 7th.

Pioneer Days Festival

This annual event in Bartow County features carnival rides, games, food, and more. It is a Labor Day Weekend tradition, and takes place at Sam Smith Park.

NOTE: This year there is a $10 admission fee.

Atlanta Black Pride Festival

The Classic Laser Show returns to Stone Mountain for FREE

September 5 to 7, 2026 PLUS dates before and after

The end-of-summer bash at Stone Mountain Park includes a return of the Classic Laser Show — and it’s FREE for these four dates! (As you know, there has been a surcharge of $5 for admission to the Laser Lawn in recent years.)

The Classic Laser Show starts at 9:30, when it’s fully dark — but you can come early, spend the day, and enjoy the other attractions.

Dragon Con Parade

Downtown Atlanta

The Dragon Con parade is FREE to attend and open to the public.
It happens this year in downtown Atlanta, along Peachtree Street, at 10 a.m., although the crowds will begin gathering and staking out their spots by 8 a.m.

Gwinnett Stripers at Coolray Field

It’s baseball season! If you’ve never been to minor league game, make time this spring to visit Coolray Field and cheer on the Gwinnett Stripers, the triple-A affiliate team to our Atlanta Braves.

A Stripers game is an affordable outing for families, and a perfect cheap date — with tickets starting at just $9 and special promotion days that bring added value. Everything about the experience is less expensive than a Braves game at Truist Field. Plus, you’re sitting much closer to the action.

From September 1 to 6, the Stripers are playing the Charlotte Knights.
On Friday nights, there are fireworks after the game (weather permitting).

Atlanta Quilt Festival

September 4 and 5 (and more dates)

Southwest Arts Center

This will be the final weekend for the Atlanta Quilt Festival.
There are 100+ quilts on display, and you can view them for FREE.

You’ll have a chance to view the work of professional textile artists, as well as work by beginners who are showcasing their art for the first time. Genres range from traditional art to modern art. 

It takes place at the Southwest Arts Center, located at 915 New Hope Rd in Atlanta.

Labor Day Car Show in Dawsonville

This annual car show is hosted by the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame (415 Hwy 53 East, Dawsonville, GA 30534).

You can visit for free.
There will be vendors on site.

The splash pads, interactive fountains, and spraygrounds in Atlanta are a fun way to cool off and play in the water, without going to a pool.

No matter where you live in metro Atlanta, there is most likely a park with a water feature near you — and most of them are FREE.

The Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium  is recognized as the official beginning of the college football season.

Hamilton at the Fox Theatre

This is, of course, another Splurge Alert item.
Still, price points for Hamilton are much lower this time around, now that the buzz has worn off a bit.
(HINT: you can buy a one-month subscription to the Disney+ streaming platform for $19.99 and watch it there, with the original Broadway cast.)

TinyCON at the Children’s Museum

This annual celebration of pop culture and fandom is geared toward kids.
It features crafts, activities, and special performances.

Candlelight Concerts

Candlelight concerts bring the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to awe-inspiring locations around metro Atlanta. These are live performances in intimate venues, lit by flickering candles.

The concerts range from iconic classical music to tributes to pop artists like Adele and Queen.

On Friday, Sept. 4th you can hear music from The Lord of the Rings at the Chapel on Sycamore, in Decatur.

Caffeine & Octane Car Show

South Fulton Scenic Byway

The South Fulton Scenic Byway has been called the loneliest road in metro Atlanta — although the loop is actually made up of four roads.

This scenic drive is a 29-mile loop in South Fulton County, just 16 miles south of the airport. Pack some snacks and go for an air-conditioned drive!

Deep South Wrestling puts on live shows that are completely FREE to attend (other than parking fees and concessions).

According to the website, Deep South Wrestling shows are family-friendly. 

As far as sports go, this is probably a more intimate experience than you’re used to. You’re sitting close to the ring, and the wrestlers often interact with the audience.

Dog swim days are held at public swimming pools around metro Atlanta in late summer — just before the pools are drained and closed for the season.

These doggy swim days are about the only time your pup will be welcomed into a municipal pool to splash, paddle, and play fetch.

 Each of these dog swim day events has pretty specific rules, for health reasons.

The North Georgia State Fair returns to Marietta in the fall of 2026!
It opens on Thursday, September 24th and runs through Sunday, October 4th.

The 2026 Fair promises to be bigger and better than ever — with live music, petting barns, flower shows, fair food, and one of the largest carnival midways in the U.S. 

Thrill-seekers can look forward to rides like the Wildcat Rollercoaster, Georgia Mountain Lift, and the Mega Slide.

Live entertainment in a covered grandstand is FREE with admission — including magic shows, live music, stunt shows, Zerbini Family Circus, Fireguy Shows, Frisbee dog demonstrations, petting zoos , and more.

Note: There is a clear bag policy in effect.

Remember, your fair admission ticket includes access to a variety of live entertainment, with no additional event charge. So even a regular price ticket is a pretty good bargain, especially if you plan your visit around entertainment that you’ll really enjoy.

Here’s a rundown of all the regular admission prices:

• Adult admission (anyone over 10) —  $15 at the gate (see discounts below)
• Online advance tickets (see info below) — just $10
• Children 10 and under are FREE
• Seniors (55+) $10
• Parking is FREE this year, according to the website

That said, ride tickets at the carnival midway can cost you a small fortune — ride tickets are regularly $1.25 each, and each ride takes more than one ticket. But you can buy in bulk for substantial savings. Regular price ride ticket options include:

• $20 for a book of 21 ride tickets
• $50 for a book of 55 ride tickets
• $100 for a book of 120 ride tickets

NOTE that there are daily deals listed below, which feature unlimited rides as low as $25.

Clear Bags may not exceed 12”x6”x12.” One-gallon resealable clear plastic freezer bags are allowed. You may also bring a small clutch purse that’s not clear if it is no larger than 4.5”x 6.5”. Diaper bags are allowed but may be searched.

How to save money at the North GA State Fair

There are daily deals for admission and rides, as well as coupons and other discounts.

Advance purchase Pay-One-Price ride ticket

In 2026, there is a more affordable way to enjoy the fair.
You can buy a Pay One Price ride ticket anytime between now and September 24th. It costs $26.23 online (with all fees included).

The new ticket can be used any day of the fair — even on a day when a ride wristband normally costs $35. (This means there are bigger savings on weekends, when ride wristbands cost more.)

Note that the new ride ticket does NOT include the $10 admission fee.

O’Reilly Auto Parts half-price admission deal

Half price admission tickets ($7.50) are available at all Metro Atlanta O’Reilly Auto Parts locations from September 1st through October 4th.

The 2026 edition of the Coweta County Fair opens on Thursday, September 24th and runs through Sunday, October 4th. It takes place in Newnan.

Opening day is a preview of the carnival rides only. There will be food for sale, but no animal exhibits.

Parking is FREE.
