Begin by vacuuming the rug on both sides in order to pick up as much dust and dirt as possible. If there are any stains on your rug, tackle them one at a time. Once this is done, you’ll want to wash your rug. The way you accomplish this will depend on the type of rug you have. Some rugs can be washed by hand by simply placing plastic underneath and then sponging the rug clean. Smaller rugs that are woven or braided may even be able to go through the washing machine. Rugs made out of natural fiber should be cleansed using just a little water. For a deep clean, you’ll want to have your rug steam cleaned.
