This unique exercise method was created by choreographer Richard Giorla. After a serious hip injury ended his career, he became frustrated by the lack of exercise forms that could accommodate his needs. After seeing many others struggling with the same problem, he was inspired to find a new solution. Giola combined the best aspects of dance and fitness to come up with Cardio Barre.

Classes combine barre work with light weights for fat burning and muscle toning. Using the barre lets you concentrate on proper technique and alignment, so you get the full benefit of the exercises. The resistance of the weights helps to sculpt your legs, rear, torso and arms, while also giving you an elongated look. Workouts are high energy and no impact so they’re ideal for any level of experience as well as for people recovering from injuries.

The fee is $17 for a one-hour class. Newcomers get a choice of receiving their first class free or getting one week of unlimited classes for $30. With the weather heating up, it’s time to get ready to hit the beach. Prepare for bathing suit weather at our Orange County apartment with a fitness center by trying these three simple workouts.

  • The Inchworm is a full-body workout that uses your own weight to tone your arms and legs. Start by bending at the waist and placing your hands on the floor with your palms just in front of your toes. Slowly walk your hands forward, stretching out your whole body until you reach a full plank position. Hold for a moment before performing a push-up and beginning your crawl again in reverse, stopping when you reach a full standing position.
  • For a great abs blast, try a Standing Lift. Starting with one foot placed in front of the other, hold a medium sized dumbbell with both hands. Move your arms upward and to the side so that you are holding the weight directly over the hip of the leg that is forward. Rotate your torso as you move the weight down toward the other hip. Repeat eight to ten times.
  • If you are looking for a chiseled waist and toned obliques, you have to try a Side Plank. Start by lying on one side, with your feet extended straight outward and one hip stacked on top of the other. Then, raise your upper body until you are resting on your elbow with your arm bent at 90 degrees. Hold for as long as you can before switching sides.

Beginning at 3 pm on July 4th, this fun festival offers a whole day of great activities. Brushing your pup can keep his coat nice and shiny, reduce shedding, expose fleas and dirt, and make him much more comfortable in the warm months. Make sure that you are brushing properly at our pet friendly Orange County apartment with these guidelines.

  • For dogs with shorter, smooth coats, it is only necessary to brush your dog once a week. Start by using a rubber brush so that you can loosen as much of the dead skin and dirt in your pup’s coat as possible. After you have gone over the entire coat with the rubber brush, switch to a bristle brush to get rid of any remaining dead hair. Finish grooming your short-haired pup by rubbing him with a chamois cloth for a shiny coat.
  • For dogs with short, dense hair that tends to mat, your weekly goal should be to remove all tangles. Starting with a slicker brush will help make this process easier. After the tangles are removed, use a bristle brush to go back through and catch any dead hair that remains. Finish by combing your pup’s tail.
  • Dogs with long, thick hair require daily grooming. Start each day by using a slicker brush to remove tangles and tease out mats. After removing the snarls, take another pass with a bristle brush. When necessary, you will want to trim any fur that has developed around your pup’s feet and joints.
