It’s been a few months since I’ve seen a spending bonus on one of my Hilton cards. On this one, hitting exactly $1,000 in spending effectively gives you an additional 5x earnings. We value Hilton Honors points at ~.35 cents each, so the additional 5x adds up to ~1.75% in additional return. Yippee?

That certainly doesn’t sound like much, but I was targeted on a Hilton Surpass card, which earns 6x on grocery and gas and 3x everywhere and also awards a free night certificate (FNC) after $15K in yearly spend.

Let’s say I was plugging away at the yearly $15,000 spend requirement for that card. Adding this bonus means I’m now getting a total of 8x-11x on my next $3k in spend, or 15,000 additional points added to my total, assuming that I can spend $3K to trigger the offer three times before it expires. If you’re planning to spend $15K for the yearly free night certificate anyway, that’s a nice little sweetener for the spending you were already going to do.

Silver status doesn’t exactly give you a dazzling array of benefits; a welcome drink, late checkout, and increased points earning are the main carrots. Still, the price is right, and if you think you’ll have an Accor stay happening before the end of the year, you might as well take a second to register if you’re targeted.

I’m not sure how widely targeted this promo is, and some folks may have access to higher statuses, like Gold or Platinum. That said, if you are targeted and have a stay planned at an Accor property, you might as well take advantage.

There are lots of newly minted Accor elite members, courtesy of Bilt’s recent Rent Day promo; seeing this promo follow so closely on its heels suggests Accor is trying to engage more potential customers in North America, where the program’s footprint is relatively small compared to Asia, South America, and Europe.

When buying third-party gift cards, you can earn 4x fuel points, saving you up to 14% on gas. To illustrate how that 14% figure is calculated, let’s say you spend $250 on gift cards during the promotion. That would earn you 1,000 fuel points, which you can redeem for $1 off per gallon on up to 35 gallons. If you can refuel to that 35-gallon limit (perhaps with a large gas tank or by refueling 2+ household vehicles at once), you’d save $35. Saving $35 on the original $250 in gift card spend amounts to a 14% discount.

If your gas tank is smaller, though, your savings won’t be as high. For example, our car holds at most 12 gallons, so we can barely save 5% on gas through these promotions, given how much we spend on gift cards. You can often get better gift card discounts through sites like Raise, so weigh your options before buying at full price from Kroger or its affiliates, such as Dillons, King Soopers, Ralphs, Fry’s, or Smith’s.

You can earn 4x fuel points on gift cards purchased online or in-store, though there are a couple of important differences between the two. If you’re buying in-store, you’ll need to load the digital coupons to your account first, whereas you’ll automatically earn 4x fuel points when buying gift cards online from Kroger.

Another thing to keep in mind is that buying gift cards in-store lets you take advantage of the many cards offering bonus spend at grocery stores right now. Kroger’s online gift card site processes payments through Blackhawk Network (the owner of GiftCards.com), so those online orders don’t count as grocery purchases.

GCC also has two other non-stackable promos: one offering no purchase fees with code FEEFREE, and another that gives you a $10 GCC gift card when you purchase a $100 VGC with code HOTPERK.

This 10% off code is better, as your total for 3 cards, including purchase fees, after the 10% is applied will be $287.85. However, one of those other codes may be listed on shopping portals, whereas SD10OFF currently is not (h/t: DOC)

Giftcards.com (GCC) charges a $5.95 purchase fee on $100 Virtual Visa gift cards, so getting 10% off means you “make” $4.05 profit per card before any kind of costs you had liquidating the cards in one way or another…and assuming that you can redeem the gift card in an effective way.

These sorts of codes usually only seem to track on shopping portals when they list the specific promo code. As far as I can see, SD10FF isn’t listed on any portals right now, but we often see additional promo codes pop up, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for a couple of days to see if it shows.

Capital One is out with a whole slew of new, very tempting merchant deals that are effectively giving 50%+ back on modest purchase amounts when you click through the offer on your credit card profile.

The deals I am seeing on my account are primarily 1,000 miles back on $20+ in purchases, 1,500 miles back on $30 in purchases, or 2,000 miles back on $40 in purchases. Current retailers include: Sam’s Club, CVS, Home Depot, Lyft, Priceline, Staples, Hotels.com, and many more. Folks with cash back cards may see dollar amounts instead of miles.

The miles that you earn can be redeemed towards travel purchases at a rate of 1 cent per point or transferred to one of Capital One’s transfer partners for even more value (we currently value Capital One miles at 1.45 cents each).

Quick Thoughts

You must have a Capital One card to be eligible for Capital One Offers, unlike the Capital One Shopping portal, which anyone can use. However, it still functions more or less like any other shopping portal, where you click a link and make your purchase.

Capital One specifically states that you can use a non-Capital One card online and receive the incentive. However, we have heard from numerous folks over the years who have had issues getting the offer fulfilled when they used another bank’s card if the offer doesn’t track. In-store, you must use the Capital One card that you added the offer to in order to trigger it.

This has the potential to be a great deal, especially given the low purchase thresholds required. Most of the terms exclude gift cards. I have no idea if, as often happens with Chase or Amex Offers, you’ll still be able to trigger the offers with an in-store gift card purchase, but I’d avoid doing it online (I’d love to hear others’ experiences in the comments).

Like I mentioned above, I received an email about this last night. It offered one-click registration, so I did that just in case I end up needing to spend a couple of nights in an IHG property next month. I tried registering my wife for the promotion as well, but received a message stating that she’s not targeted. It’s worth trying to register even if you don’t receive an email just in case you’re targeted but don’t get the email for some reason.

At the time of publishing this post, IHG is selling its points for 0.5 cents per point. That means you can buy 2,000 points for $10 (when purchasing above a certain threshold of points). This targeted promo therefore isn’t incredibly awarding, but it’s better than no bonus at all if you were going to be staying with IHG anyway.

This promotion will stack with a couple of other global IHG promotions:

• IHG promo: Earn 2K points every 2 nights or 8K points every 4 nights (your choice)
• IHG promo: Earn 10K bonus points for every 2 nights spent at its Ruby Hotels brand

There are also a couple of other targeted IHG promotions at the moment that are awarding bonus elite night credits (see here and here). All of these promos combined—if you’re targeted—could make it more worthwhile picking IHG to stay with versus a different chain.

The number of base points you earn per dollar (well, per €10) varies depending on the Accor brand that you’re staying at, so the number that’ll be doubled or tripled will be based on that:

Note that the date format in the terms and conditions is DAY/MONTH/YEAR. That means this promotion is only valid for stays from September 7, not from July 9 (due to the 07/09/2026 date listed), while reservations have to be made by September 13.

You also need to activate this promotion before making any reservations. When logged in to your account, look for a small ‘Activate this offer’ button on the promotion landing page as it’s not as prominent as some registration buttons. Bookings that were made before registering for this offer won’t earn the bonus points, so you’d need to cancel and rebook to take advantage of this new promo. However, be sure to check both the cancellation policy of your existing reservation and the cost of booking a new stay before cancelling in case one or both of those factors make it not worthwhile.

Be sure to click through to Accor from a shopping portal before making any reservations in order to earn additional rewards that way too.

Quick Thoughts

Getting $200 back as a statement credit is a very good return if you need to book paid airfare on the eligible airlines which are Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Swiss International, and Discover Airlines.

The potential downside with this is that you have to book via Amex Travel. That could add some complexity in the event that you encounter schedule changes ahead of time or irregular operations when traveling as you might have to deal with Amex Travel as a middleman rather than with the airline directly.

Having to book via Amex Travel also means that this Amex Offer can’t get triggered by paying for taxes and fees on Miles & More award tickets that total $1,000 or more. If you don’t fly frequently on Lufthansa and its group airlines, Miles & More miles can be hard to come by, but they are now a transfer partner of Rove Miles. Sadly that doesn’t help with this offer though.

If you’re already planning a destination wedding and will be spending a somewhat substantial amount on it, this World of Hyatt offer could definitely be worth considering.

Not only will you earn anything from 30,000 to 150,000 bonus points for the event, but you’ll also get 2 elite night credits for every $5,000 spent. If you end up spending $40,000 (the threshold to earn the maximum number of points), that means you’ll also earn 16 elite night credits which will get you more than 25% of the way to Globalist status.

It could get even better than that. If you paid with your Chase World of Hyatt or Chase World of Hyatt Business credit card, you’d also earn 4X bonus points on that spend. In the event that you were to spend $40,000, that’s 160,000 bonus points in addition to the 150,000 you’d earn from this wedding promotion, for a total of 310,000 points.

You’d also earn bonus elite night credits from that card spend too. The personal Hyatt card earns 2 elite night credits for every $5,000 spent (on a rolling basis), while the business card earns 5 elite night credits for every $10,000 spent (in a calendar year). Spending $40,000 would therefore earn you 16 additional elite night credits on the personal card, making a total of 32 elite nights based on the 16 you’d get from the HMOON promo code offer—more than enough for Explorist status, along with the associated Milestone Rewards along the way. Putting that spend on a Hyatt business card would be even more rewarding: you’d earn 20 elite night credits from the spend on the card, plus the 16 from the promotion for a total of 36—that’s 60% of the way to Globalist status.

Now, I certainly wouldn’t spend more on a wedding simply to earn more points and elite night credits, but if you’re spending that money anyway, this is a nice way to get rewarded for it.

Quick Thoughts

A few airline and hotel loyalty programs offer either temporary or ongoing incentives for new members, but this is the first time that I remember Delta running a promotion like this.

Earning up to 5,000 bonus miles isn’t a massive reward, but if you’ve never enrolled in the SkyMiles program then now—or within the next few months—is as good a time as any.

This promotion is open for enrollment through the end of the year, although be aware that there are a few other date-related factors to consider. When opting in to marketing emails, that has to be done within three months, but also before the end of the promotion period (i.e. December 31, 2026.) For the SkyMiles Dining bonus, you have to spend $30 within 30 days of signing up for the dining program. As for the flight bonus, you have to complete your travel within three months of enrolling in the challenge.

With regards to the flight component, that has to be for travel on Delta or Delta Connection carriers—crediting a paid flight on a partner airline won’t count. However, Delta award flights do count, so that could be handy if there’s a decent value SkyMiles award flight you want to book and you have Amex Membership Rewards you can transfer in (but remember that Amex charges an excise tax for transfers to Delta).

With the SkyMiles Dining bonus, the 1,400 bonus SkyMiles are instead of the usual 1,000 SkyMiles bonus miles—not in addition to.

Stephen wrote about the card changes several weeks ago. While the annual fee has increased by $100, some will find the new coupon credits to more than offset the increase in cost.

The card now has a twice-annual $250 credit for AA Vacations bookings, which can be used once between January and June and once between July and December. If you’re able to make use of that and one or two of the card’s other coupons or status benefits, and if you also value Admirals Club access, the card certainly could be a keeper.

That said, at $695 it is quite an expensive card. If Admirals Club access doesn’t matter much to you, then I can’t imagine this card would be a keeper. Still it might easily be worth it for at least the first year, given a sizable introductory bonus. The 125,000 miles could at least theoretically be enough for a round-trip business-class flight to Europe or Asia if you’re able to find partner award availability.  The spending requirement is on the steep end, but given that Citibank is the only issuer of American Airlines credit cards these days, it may be of interest to those who are eligible for the bonus.

It is always necessary to disambiguate between Capital One Shopping, which is a public shopping portal available to anybody, and Capital One offers, which are only available to Capital One cardholders.

Capital One Shopping is a public portal open to anyone, where rewards are only earned in the form of credit that can be redeemed for gift cards, whereas Capital One offers are earned in the form of either cash back or miles, depending on the card you’re using to access Capital One offers.

Which is better for you likely depends on how much you value miles and how high your target offer becomes for Capital One Shopping.

As of the time of writing, I have not seen an email offer any higher than the 30% back that I see on the Capital One Shopping home page. We sometimes get targeted email offers of up to 70% back when TripAdvisor is on special. At just 30% back in the form of credit that can only be redeemed for gift cards versus 25 miles per dollar, I would probably lean toward earning the additional transferable miles, but when the percentages become higher, the decision can sometimes become more difficult. Either way, it could be worth considering booking activities or airport transfers through TripAdvisor when targeted rates become high.

Keep in mind that Capital One Shopping rewards for travel-related purchases sometimes track as ineligible at first and are only credited after travel is complete. That is exactly what has happened with my past TripAdvisor bookings — they initially showed up as “ineligible”, but then became “pending” (and later “credited”) after travel was complete.

I’m not sure that the 30% back or 25 miles per dollar would be enough to get me to make a booking I wasn’t already considering, but if you do have bookings to make, this could certainly be handy. Keep in mind that these “Top Deal of the Day” offers only last until 11:59 pm Pacific Time.

Quick Thoughts

Blacklane is a car service facilitator that bills itself as providing a chauffeur service experience. In reality, Blacklane is just a booking platform that connects customers to local chauffeur service companies. If that sounds a lot like Uber but for chauffeury-rides, you’re on the right track.

However, Blacklane tends to be significantly more expensive than traditional rideshare services. Some price difference is warranted, given that it provides a scheduled ride with someone who has some built-in waiting time rather than an on-demand service. And in some cases, the difference in price may not seem totally unreasonable.

You can now book a Blacklane through the “Car Service” tab in the Bilt app or on the Bilt website (under “Rewards”).

Unfortunately, the experience of trying to book through Bilt isn’t intuitive. Both in the app and on the desktop site, I was trying to type in the name of my hotel (which starts with “Le”), and the only results it would give me were airport codes. I then tried typing in “Grand Hyatt Dubai” in the search box (this isn’t a hotel where I’ll be staying; I’m just using it as an example to show how poorly the system works), and it gives me a long list of airport codes that have nothing to do with the search.

If you scroll past the list of airport codes, you’ll eventually find a list of “Places”, where the Grand Hyatt Dubai hotel does show up, but I tried using the app multiple times over several days to book a ride and I didn’t realize that there was anything in the list other than airport codes (because who would repeatedly scroll beyond a list of search results that are irrelevant to the search terms?). The odd thing is that the search experience in the Blacklane app works exactly as you would expect — enter Grand Hyatt Dubai, and the Grand Hyatt Dubai is the only search result it populates.

Once you know that search quirk, you can at least use Bilt to book a Blacklane and earn an extra 1 point per dollar when booking through Bilt or redeem Bilt Cash once per year toward a ride.

I view these coupons as a good way to use up some Bilt Cash that might otherwise expire at the end of the year anyway to get a slight discount on a ride if you’re able to use one to cover a ride in full (or nearly in full). This isn’t a face-value use unless you’re already a Blacklane customer, but it will be useful in some circumstances.

It just so happens that I will need a ride to an airport in a couple of weeks where a Blacklane would be just a bit over $100, so I thought this might make for a good use of Bilt Cash. An Uber for a similar ride looks like it would ordinarily be less than $50, but scheduling one in advance would be more like $85, so Blacklane isn’t a bad alternative given other parameters (like the fact that I need the ride at a very early hour when I might otherwise have difficulty finding a rideshare driver).

I was disappointed to see that booking through the Bilt app would cost about 3.1% more than booking directly through Blacklane for the car type I wanted (I checked a different car type and Bilt was 3.6% more expensive). While those are relatively small markups, it nonetheless erodes the value of the Bilt Cash redemption. It also means that it probably isn’t worth booking through Bilt for the extra 1 point per dollar spent rather than simply booking through Blackalne, since you would effectively be buying the extra Bilt point for more than 3c.

That led me to check an airport pickup from the Grand Hyatt Dubai since I had already entered that hotel to search. For a random date ride to Dubai airport (DXB), booking through Bilt was about 9.4% more expensive than booking through Blacklane. Bilt was charging $44.34.

The same ride booked directly through Blacklane would be 148.82 AED (~$40.52).

It still might be worth using a $50 Bilt Cash coupon in that sort of situation if you’ve got Bilt Blue or Silver status and will otherwise have Bilt Cash expire, but it is worth comparing prices to know that what you’re getting makes sense for your situation.

• Through 11:59pm ET on September 19, 2026, Citi ThankYou Rewards is offering a 25% transfer bonus when you transfer Citi ThankYou points to Leading Hotels of the World Leaders Club. With this transfer bonus, Citi Strata Premier, Strata Elite, Prestige, and AT&T Access More cardholders will get the following ratio:
  • 1,000 Citi ThankYou points = 250 Leading Hotels of the World Leaders Club points

Quick Thoughts

The ordinary transfer ratio from premium Citi cards to Leading Hotels of the World is 1,000 points to 200 Leading Hotels of the World points (5:1). Since Leading Hotels of the World points are generally worth around 8c per point toward room rates (note that there is some variance, but many hotels are close to exactly 8c per point), the ordinary transfer ratio yields about 1.6c per Citi point.

With a 25% transfer bonus, every 1,000 Citi points become 250 Leading Hotels of the World points (4:1), worth about $20 toward Leading Hotels of the World properties. That’s good for a value of about $0.02 per point.

Keep in mind that Amex recently added Leading Hotels of the World Leaders Club as a transfer partner, and the ordinary transfer ratio for Amex is 4:1, so this puts a transfer from Citi on par with one from Amex. Either can be an excellent deal, particularly considering the relatively few options left for using transferable points to good value for hotel stays.

All that said, this will be of limited use given LHW’s small footprint. However, if you have upcoming travel plans where LHW could be a fit, this could be a great deal.

The limit is nine per customer per day in-store, although some stores may allow more. Different stores appear to have different policies regarding the variable-load cards that some Staples now sell. Some folks report that fees are waived when they purchase them…others find that they aren’t. Your mileage may vary.

Quick Notes

These deals can be a great way of getting rewards through spending at office supply stores. If you can buy 9 at a time in-store, that’s a potential of $1,800 that’s possible each day. Quick Thoughts

Wells Fargo has a broad definition of “direct deposits,” including ACH transfers from many banks. When I did this a couple of years ago, I just scheduled an ACH from my local credit union (BECU).

The terms require the account to remain open until the 90-day qualification period ends, so it’s important to understand the requirements to avoid the $15 monthly fee. You could schedule a monthly $500 ACH deposit into the account and then transfer most of it back out to keep the account free, or just leave $1,500 in the account. There’s no early termination fee if you close the account. Still, with Wells Fargo, it’s generally considered best practice to leave it open for at least a few months to avoid getting blacklisted from future bonuses.
