Remember when music videos were all the rage? Neither do we. It’s easy to forget that MTV stands for music television. There’s no need to use a lot of space on your computer to save music videos. Get RealPlayer and use the Bookmark feature to save links to your favorite online videos.

With all of the sites described below, you can stream MP4 videos while browsing the site or use RealPlayer to bookmark those music videos so they’re always in your RealPlayer library. When you use RealPlayer to bookmark a video, the video is stored in your RealPlayer library. Then you’ll always know where to find the video, so you won’t have to do a new video search each time you want to watch it.

The main difference between bookmarking a video and downloading a video is that when you bookmark it you need to be connected to the Internet in order to watch it since it streams the video. Bookmarking a video saves the link and a thumbnail of the clip in the RealPlayer library. WHERE TO FIND FREE STREAMING MP4 MUSIC VIDEOS

Along with its infamously snarky record reviews, web-based music publication Pitchfork includes a channel dedicated to music videos, Pitchfork.tv. As you’d expect, it’s focused on the type of independent artists normally covered by the publication. Similarly, IndieTrain is a YouTube-style site dedicated to music videos from independent artists. Blastro Networks collects music videos in three channels: Blastro (pop, hip-hop, R&B, Latin, and dance), Roxwel (rock, metal, and indie), and Y’All Wire (country, bluegrass, and Christian). Though you’ll find content from established artists like Rascal Flatts, the network of sites are designed to provide a platform where people can stream MP4 videos of new and unsigned artists, so you can get in on the ground floor of what could be the next big thing in music.

I would be willing to bet that every kid playing a video game when they were young has had fantasies about becoming their favorite video game character. They have probably also thought of what it might be like to see their toys come to life and move around and fight bad guys (Toy Story, anyone?). Who hasn’t played a video game and thought that it would make an awesome movie: “Why haven’t they made it yet?” you ask. Not all video games will equal movie magic. With that in mind we’ve rounded up 5 video games that should NOT be made into a movie and why.

1. World of Warcraft Movie

I’m sure a World of Warcraft movie is at the top of everyone’s list, and you, the reader, will probably be mad/angry/disappointed in my choice here, but there are several reasons why making a movie out of this video game is a bad idea.

• Lore – With two factions, 11 character classes, 13 races, 4 expansions, and countless factions within the game, it would be impossible to focus on just a few characters for the purposes of a movie.
• Visual – Would the movie be live action or cartoon? Most say live action, and I think we can all agree that the special effects are possible, but most of the costumes and physical items wouldn’t translate well from the game to the big screen.

2. God of War Movie

This game has had the tag of “please green light this” for a while now, but let’s talk about what a God of War movie would need to be to be a box office hit. Three sequels of this game say it’s a popular title, but how possible would it be to make a movie out of this video game? Let’s look at Kratos, the main character. He is a brutal warrior who is a “God of War” so to speak, and cannot be defeated. He is an extremely one-sided character. For a movie to be filled with two hours of button mashing and slaughtering, the main character has to have some depth. The only way this could possibly make a good movie is to make it a comedy starring Dwayne Johnson as Kratos, and Rob Schneider as his kooky sidekick (Hollywood, please don’t).

3. Legend of Zelda Movie

The reason this video game shouldn’t be made into a movie is simple – it will never – NEVER live up to the expectations that the target audience would have. The reason? The target audience is way too wide. People who played Legend of Zelda on the original Nintendo now have children of their own, who have played countless other versions of Zelda, including Wind Walker and Phantom Hourglass. The inevitable problem is – what plot do you do here, and which demographics do you target? The possibilities for what a Legend of Zelda movie could be are endless.

4. Metal Gear Solid Movie

This video game seems like an awesome movie idea on its face, and the storyline is there across all the titles. So what is stopping someone from making a great spy-inspired Metal Gear Solid movie? If you have ever played Metal Gear Solid, you know that there are more subplots than an episode of Twin Peaks. No one knows what is going on in the game until the game tells you what’s going on. Furthermore, the weirdness of the plot would make for an uncomfortable mix of sci-fi, fantasy, and psychological thriller. The movie would likely lack focus and be all over the place.

5. The Sims Movie

I feel as though the reasons around not creating a Sims movie are obvious, but I will state them anyway. The Sims is about the player controlling a family (or families) to simply get them through life, but at an accelerated rate. This concept is great on a video game because it allows for a player to escape their lives for a while, but no one wants to see normal people doing normal things. That’s called a chick flick.

The bottom line is that people need to think long and hard about what they really want to see on the big screen, because if it’s an awful movie, it’s just an awful movie, and nothing else.

YouTube and Google will provide results based on your search criteria. In a shared environment, this can yield results that you may not want your children to have access to.

6 PARENTAL CONTROL TIPS TO MAKE SURE KIDS ARE WATCHING SAFE VIDEOS ONLINE

There are many ways a parent can ensure the viewing safety of the children while watching videos on the Internet. While some options may be more technical, others can be accomplished through simple settings for accounts. Either way, you can provide a safe environment for the child without dismantling much of what you enjoy.

1. Restriction by Router - Many routers within the home can be set up to deny access to one site depending on the IP address of the computer on the network. This may be a bit technical for many, but you can remove sites such as YouTube and Vimeo from children computers while allowing yourself access. These settings are usually in the “Access Restrictions” area of the router. Unless the child knows the password to the router, there is no access to specified sites within this list.

Many firewalls will deny access to the website in question for all computers connected to the network. If you want to have access to YouTube, but don’t want the child watching those videos, learning more about this setting can help you secure your network for the younger audiences while giving you freedom to enjoy your favorite content.

2. Become Informed - Although the technology surrounding the Internet may escape you, it is a subject that you must learn. If you are to protect your children against inappropriate content, you need to know what measures you can take and how to deal with problems should they arise. A curious child may have the technical skills to circumvent your measures and you need to know what can be done. When it comes to technology, today’s youth is becoming more and more adept to working with it better than you can. You need to stay ahead of the game in order to succeed.

3. Communication - It’s never too early to sit your child down and explain the rules of the Internet within the home. If they are old enough to use the Internet without your assistance, then they are old enough to understand what is to be expected. Setting ground rules for everyone to obey isn’t any more complicated than any other rule in your house. Follow-through with consequences could easily be implemented by learning more about the security capabilities of your network’s router. You could potentially turn off Internet access based on time of day, specific computers or Internet-enabled devices, or all together.

4. Parental Control Settings - Many tablets, smartphones, browsers, and other computer related equipment have some kind of parental safety control built into them. For example, Internet Explorer has such a setting that can be activated in order to reduce inappropriate content from being viewed. Essentially, you can lock these devices down from accessing sites and content you deem are inappropriate.

5. User Accounts - If your child is exceptional at computer usage, he or she can circumvent a lot of parental controls by creating a new account on the computer system. These new accounts won’t have a lot of the settings initialized for parental control as these are usually account specific settings. By not allowing your child to have administrative control of the computer, he or she would not be able to create new accounts in order to browse unfettered. However, this would mean that you may have to install any software the child would like on the computer system – which may not be a bad idea anyway.

6. YouTube Parental Control - Within the settings of Google and YouTube, you are able to “Save and Lock” parental controls for safer viewing. However, these can easily be thwarted. YouTube relies on the viewers to deem if a video is inappropriate or not. It’s possible for these videos to slip through the cracks and still be viewed. Vulgar content can also be accessed by certain videos if the child simply logs out of the account and browses as a guest. However, the setting may still be able to reduce the damage by removing a great deal of videos from children who may not be that adept at the internal workings of YouTube.

Regardless of your methods, it is up to you as a parent to be involved in your child’s life. All too often parents give their children free reign of the Internet which can lead to undesirable circumstances. Don’t allow your child to become a statistic and become involved today. You’ll find the latest titles for rent or purchase on Google Play, such as Lincoln, This Is 40, and Skyfall. The newest titles are generally $4 or $5 to rent and $15 to purchase. Older movies are usually cheaper to rent, although purchase prices tend to remain constant. Also, not every title — especially older ones — are available for purchase.

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone and Galaxy Note phone/tablet hybrid can take advantage of the preinstalled Samsung Media Hub app, which offers access to new movie and TV titles, such as Life of Pi and Bates Motel.

TRANSFER MOVIES TO YOUR MOBILE DEVICE
