Perhaps some of the customers of TC had money in/out exchanged to LR. Doesn't matter....The effect of USA regulation/enforcement does not require direct intervention at the targeted companies.
There are many examples of indirect fallout / collateral damage. Remember when CFTC first banned non US forex dealers from offering retail forex trading to US residents? At first, many of the larger brokers insisted "We are not governed by US law....this wont affect us. We can still accept US residents as normal". Almost all of those same brokers FOLDED to the CFTC pressure. They either blocked US ip addresses, removed USA as an option to select country on the registration form, and/or kicked out existing clients that resided in the US.
The online poker debacle was another good example: confiscated domain names, frozen accounts, etc and the big poker rooms all folded to the pressure. But state-run lotteries are never a problem of course.
Anyway, bitcoin and cryptocurrences like it are perhaps the best thing going right now. So law enforcement cannot just take down an entire service just because of a few bad apples. They will have to put down their donuts and actually trap the bad apples, and leave the rest of the apples alone.
The LR domino was pushed over and then any other dominos in the path also fall. It's not a matter of who started it.
