Miramax has hired industry vet Robert Osher as its new chief operating officer and general counsel, the entertainment company’s CEO Bill Block announced Monday.

Osher is returning to the company after more than a decade away. He served as co-president of production of Miramax Films from 1997 to 2004, after it was bought by the Walt Disney Co. Los Angeles-based Miramax was originally founded in 1979 by film producer Harvey Weinstein and his brother, Bob.
